No If Temporary, enter End Date: Position Summary The Parking Operations Supervisor coordinates and executes day-to-day parking operations at SUNY Cortland, with a primary responsibility for permitting, enforcement, parking systems, and special events support. This position supervises parking operations staff and ensures parking resources are deployed effectively in alignment with campus activity, safety priorities, and institutional policies. This position ensures revenues collected are handled according to SUNY Cortland guidelines and established procedures. This position is expected to respond to and assist with emergency situations during working hours. Experience Cortland dives deep into the region’s offerings Major Responsibilities Parking Operations – 50%Supervise parking operations staff: Assign daily/weekly tasks. Ensure productivity is commensurate with campus activity.
Provide operation support for parking management system. Apply software patches. Update biographical data for account holders. Adjust software settings related to permitting and enforcement as parameters are adjusted.
Provide customer service coverage as needed.
Coordinate special events parking needs with relevant departments.
Ensure proper signage/markings exist to support parking operations.
Represent the Parking/Pedestrian Safety programs in meetings. Examples: Special events Facilities Planning Design and Construction – Large-scale construction activity.
Coordinate maintenance operations as needed regarding facility conditions. Work with maintenance and ground staff to address new/faulty signposts, adding/removing signage. Survey for and recommend minor maintenance plans for parking lot conditions (potholes, line striping).
Provide Second-level complaint resolution.
Parking/Mobile Technology Systems – 25%Maintain vehicle-mounted laptop and ancillary processing equipment, including (but not limited to) applying Windows and/or vendor-specific software updates.
Maintain handheld/portable enforcement devices (currently Android-based cell phones and mobile printers). Apply carrier and/or vendor-specific software updates.
Maintain/update automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) settings within ANPR software platform. Including (but not limited to) geographic boundaries of parking facilities and facility-specific permits rules and schedules.
Coordinate settings from ANPR platform with parking management system.
Troubleshoot payment gateway issues in relation to online parking management systems sales. Assist with reconciliation of payments that fail to post from payment gateway to parking management system.
Update parking management system regarding permit types, rules, permit pools, effective dates, location capacities, and other relevant parameters.
Work with vendor support to address issues where no resolution can be found without intervention.Secondary/Backup Parking Operations Support – 25%Permit/parking rules enforcement: verification of permit status, issuance of citations to vehicles found to be in violation, investigation/resolution of parking complaints.
Setup barriers/signage to support events.
Maintain/collect revenue from parking meters.
Provide planned/ad-hoc support of traffic management. Special events Emergent situations Functional and Supervisory Relationships Reports to the Chief of Police.
Supervises two Parking Services Attendants and an Office Assistant 2
Frequently working with members of Facilities Operations and Services, Facilities Design Planning and Construction. Occasionally works with members of all other departments across campus. Required Qualifications Associates degree
Professional supervisory experience
Valid Driver’s License1-year minimum experience using software such as Microsoft Office, Teams, and/or Android OS Preferred Qualifications Experience in parking operations and/or pedestrian safetyExperience with AIMS Parking Management SystemExperience working in higher education Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Demonstrated attention to detail to accurately input, maintain, review, and verify data.
Ability to perform basic arithmetic and compile, organize, interpret, and communicate budget related data and results clearly and concisely.
Effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to de-escalate difficult situations with professionalism, sound judgement, and composure
Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to manage others’ time effectively.
Knowledge of geographic location principles (i.e. latitude/longitude, GPS location finding) and the ability to use mapping tools to define and manage geographic parameters.
Knowledge of and ability to support enterprise and mobile technology systems, including applying operating system updates, software patches, and application configurations across multiple platforms.
Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of constituents with differing needs, expectations, backgrounds, and levels of experience.
Ability to coordinate operational activities across functional areas, analyze issues, and develop or recommend effective solutions.
