Description of Duties + Responsible for overseeing the daily parking and transportation functions of the assigned areas. + Serves as point of contact for University employees, students, and visitors regarding parking regulations, and related inquiries; ensures and provides assistance to improve service quality and responds to concerns. + Works with assigned supervisor to complete departmental projects. + Ensures adequate staffing and operational coverage of area during scheduled hours. + Plans and coordinates logistics in parking areas and on transit routes to maintain efficiency. + Monitors on-time performance and ensures schedule adherence. + Ensures technology and equipment are functioning properly and coordinates needed repairs. + Collects, analyzes, and reports operational data to support decision making. + Prepares and submits reports in a timely manner. + Assists with recruiting, training, and supervising assigned staff. + Operates university vehicles as needed to maintain adequate service levels. + May issue parking permits and citations in accordance with University regulations. + Responds promptly to accidents and incidents and coordinates with appropriate departments and agencies. + Evaluates, identifies and recommends operational improvements to maintain departmental efficiency. + Keeps abreast of all university parking lots and locations and oversees and enforces parking regulations. + Maintains knowledge of all University bus routes and services and ensures compliance with riding rules and procedures. + Performs other duties as assigned. Supervision Received Specific supervision from assigned supervisor. Supervision Given Direct supervision of assigned staff. Required Education High school diploma or equivalent. Preferred Education College degree in business administration or a related field. Licenses/Certifications As a condition of employment this position requires the applicant to be authorized to operate a University-Owned Vehicle for Official University Business. Per University of Texas System Policy 157, applicants will be subject to a motor vehicle record check for their most recent thirty-six (36) month history. Out of State Drivers are required to submit a 36-month history MVR from their prior State of residence(s). Required Experience Three (3) years of related experience, including knowledge of parking and/or transportation operations including supervisory experience. Preferred Experience Supervisory experience obtained in a higher-education institution’s parking and/or transportation department. Equipment Use of standard office equipment and software. Use of parking and transportation-related technology equipment. Use of two-way radio and cell phone. Operates motor/electric vehicles such as university vans and golf carts. Working Conditions Needs to be able to successfully perform all required duties. Some travel, evening, and weekend work is required. Works on the field with occasional work in an office environment. May encounter hazardous, noisy, and busy conditions on roads. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This position will be subject to a pre-employment physical, motor vehicle record check, criminal background, and drug and alcohol random exams. This position is classified as a safety sensitive position in accordance with FTA’s rules and regulations.
