No County Cattaraugus Street Address Allegany State Park – Regional Maintenance 2373 ASP Route 1 City Salamanca State NY Zip Code 14779 Duties Description The Park Worker 3 will report directly to the Regional Park Maintenance Supervisor, SG-18, and will be assigned to Regional Maintenance. The incumbent will perform skilled and semi-skilled work supporting multiple parks and facilities within the Allegany Region. Duties may include, but are not limited to:• Perform skilled trades work such as plumbing, electrical, mechanical repair and equipment maintenance.• Support regional construction, rehabilitation, and infrastructure improvement projects across multiple park sites.• Operate and maintain heavy equipment and vehicles, including trucks, loaders, tractors, trailers, and power tools.• Supervise, train, and provide direction to lower-level staff, including seasonals.• Assist with emergency response activities.• Oversee and enforce applicable safety regulations and the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).• Coordinate work assignments with regional supervisors and park managers.• Perform daily water quality monitoring tasks and recording data for official records.• Perform daily tasks in the operation and maintenance of potable water and wastewater treatment systems. Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site, golf course, or recreational facility;OR - One year of experience in any of the following fields:• Law enforcement or security• Firefighting• Emergency Medical Services • Environmental education or stewardship• Natural resources management (e.g., forest management, wildlife management/preservation)• Historic preservation or interpretation• Landscaping or grounds maintenance OR - One year of military service in any branch of the United States Armed Forces;OR - Thirty (30) semester credit hours of college-level coursework from an accredited college or university;OR - Completion of a two-year technical/trades school program;OR - Two years of experience as a trade assistant working under the direct supervision of a skilled tradesperson. Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment.• Must possess or obtain a valid Class B** CDL (with tanker endorsement) that allows the candidate to legally operate commercial vehicles in New York State within the probationary period and maintain it as a term and condition of employment.• Must be willing and able to obtain Grade 1A Wastewater System Treat Plant Operator certification recognized by the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation as assigned.• Must be willing and able to obtain Grade C and D Community Water Systems Operator certification issued by the NYS Department of Health as assigned.**Under the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation and Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive. The incumbent is required to participate in pre-employment, random, and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
