Park Maintenance III- Lead (MTMO)
JOB SUMMARY Under general supervision, is a team lead over the Parks Maintenance Worker 1 & 2, and performs semi-skilled and skilled work in maintaining a variety of general landscaping areas, and performs maintenance for various landscaping equipment. Assist the Parks Supervisor in training and direct the day-to-day work ofGrounds Maintenance Workers 1 & 2. This is the highest level within a three-level series where incumbents generally perform a broad range of skilled duties as well as operation of equipment duties and typically work independently under the general guidance of the Parks Supervisor and is the lead to both the Parks Maintenance Worker 1 & 2. MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES This list is intended only to illustrate the various types of work that may be performed. The omission of specific statements does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related or is a logical assignment to the position. + Plan, prioritize, and organize daily workload with or without help from the supervisor. Take the lead to direct, train, and work alongside other Park Maintenance Workers. Receive and follow up on work orders; provide daily logs, weekly progress reports, and other necessary documents or records as required. + Use various types of hand and power tools such as saws, axes, drills, weed eaters, blowers, shovels, rakes, and hoes. Performs minor adjustments and occasional complex repairs to lawn care equipment. Keep inventory for all the lawn care equipment and make recommendations for repair, replacement, and services. + Mow, edge, and trim lawns using hand or riding mowers, edger’s, and sweepers; water and weed lawns, shrubs and flower beds; rake and clear litter; clear brush and gather leaves; saws. + Knowledgeable of maintenance on artificial turf on athletic fields. Will maintenance turf after every practice and game. + May be asked to work outside of normal business hours during athletic tournaments held on fields. + Must be able to hold the crew accountable to a three-level standard of landscaping skills that will be used on all areas of Parks Department sites. + Take the lead in ball field and playground equipment and ground maintenance duties. + Perform tree and shrub trimming periodically. Use clippers as needed to complete the lawn care work to keep all landscaping areas in a high-quality condition. + Sweep and clean facility perimeters and facility bathrooms and concessions stands. + Clean public surface areas and remove graffiti. + Mix and use weed killing solutions, fertilizers, and/or other related chemical mixtures. + Schedule and perform periodic lawn treatment with applicators and equipment, including weeding, fertilizing and aerating. + Perform lawn sprinkler system operation and maintenance. + Drive non-CDL required pickup trucks, flat-beds, automobiles and other small, motorized vehicles in connection with work activities. Perform minor repairs or adjustments, lubrication and safety checks on vehicles and/or trailers. + Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well-being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular job responsibilities. EDUCATION - EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING FOR POSITION Required: High school diploma, GED or equivalent and two (2) years of related grounds-keeping maintenance and/or repair work experience. SPECIFIC SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES REQUIRED FOR POSITION Skilled in: Operating small hand and power tools; operating power lawn mowers, such as riding or push mowers; performing a variety of routine ground-keeping functions; completing assigned work in a timely and efficient manner; safely operating tools and equipment; safely handling fertilizers and chemicals; maintenance of equipment; organization and time-management; oral and written communication; customer service; inventory and bid process; operating standard office equipment, including personal computer. Knowledge of: Basic math; safe work practices; cleaning and grounds-keeping techniques; uses, handling, and storage of pesticides and herbicides; maintenance and repair of equipment typically used in landscaping/grounds-keeping; . Ability to: Read and write; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; maintain accurate records; complete required reports; train staff; monitor the work of staff; follow verbal and written instructions; operate and care for tools and equipment; observe safety requirements and safe work practices; perform work involving regular physical activity; establish and maintain cooperative work relationships; arrive to work in a timely manner; attend required training; work varying shifts. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions. The employee frequently works in high, precarious places and is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
