Work Environment
The company is a Contract Manufacturing Medical Device organization that has grown by 30% in the past year and employs 800 individuals at its St Charles location. The production floor is comprised of 75% industrial sewing machines, operating in a clean GMP environment where hair nets and beard nets are mandatory. It is not climate-controlled, which means it can get hot during summer months, although fans are provided throughout the production area. The workforce is diverse, with over 5-6 languages spoken. Candidates who are not fluent in English are still eligible but may face challenges in sewing classes; however, self-sufficiency with translation technology is encouraged. The first shift runs from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, with options to start earlier at 4:00 AM and work additional hours on Saturdays voluntarily, provided certain productivity rates are met. The second shift is from 3:00 PM to 11:30 PM, with extended hours until 1:00 AM and voluntary Saturday hours available under the same conditions.
