Job Title: Packaging Operator
Job Description

The Packaging Operator is responsible for overseeing all packaging functions, ensuring that equipment is utilized to meet quality, productivity, and packaging codes. The role requires operating the packaging unit and running a forklift when necessary, following all outlined work instructions.

ResponsibilitiesInitiate, monitor, and confirm that all packaging of products is accurate and timely.Check material running at finishing lines to capture work codes and customer formats, ensuring customer packaging needs are met.Secure necessary packaging materials such as skids, pallets, cardboard, paper, plastic, and banding ahead of packaging.Check packaged materials for accuracy and quality.Confirm weights on materials off the scale and ensure proper parking locations are entered in the computer.Coordinate the movement of materials through shipping bays, working with Cranemen as needed.Coordinate work at the packaging line for coils exiting both Slitter and Blanking Line to maximize efficiency.Ensure proper pack codes, quality, and efficiency for downended coils, and verify weights and dunnages.Maintain inventory of packing needs such as wood, paper, plastic products, banding, and tools.Assist in any packaging needs by redistributing packers or working with them for smooth operations.Direct unanswered questions through the shipping section chain of command.Monitor and correct safety activities as necessary.Train shift utility personnel in the packaging section and motivate pack crews to achieve outlined results.Perform all other assigned jobs.Essential SkillsForklift experience of at least 1 year.Experience in packaging and shipping.Experience working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.High School Diploma or GED.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in packing or shipping is preferred.Experience in a warehouse environment is beneficial.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The position is based in a clean stainless steel manufacturer/distributor. The warehouse is not climate-controlled, so it can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The standard working hours are Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, but candidates should be available from 5:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with occasional weekend work if required by the supply chain.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of PENDERGRASS, Georgia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
