Job Title: Packaging Technician
Job Description

As a Packaging Technician, you will assist machine operators in the sanding department, where large rolls of sandpaper are transformed into smaller pieces for sanding tools. You will be expected to maintain a fast-paced workflow, assisting operators with packaging materials, labeling, palletizing, and creating boxes, as well as other tasks as needed. You may learn to operate machines in the absence of operators, lifting up to 35 lbs and maintaining a steady pace to meet production goals. Other responsibilities include order pulling, using inventory systems, and staging products.

ResponsibilitiesAssist machine operators in the sanding department.Package materials, label, palletize, and make boxes.Lift up to 35 lbs and maintain a steady pace to meet production goals.Operate machinery in the absence of the operator.Pull orders and use inventory systems for product management.Monitor machinery and products, calculate measurements such as weights, and document product details.Shrink wrap final products and prepare them for shipping.Essential SkillsExperience in manufacturing and working on a production schedule.Previous machine operating experience, specifically operating a die cutter.Ability to work closely with team members to complete tasks.Perfect attendance record.Reliable and cross-trainable with a positive attitude.Additional Skills & QualificationsMaterial handling, packing, and production experience.General labor and inspection skills.Experience in labeling, warehouse shipping, and inventory management.Familiarity with FedEx and shipping and receiving processes.Why Work Here?

Work Environment

The plant is not climate-controlled, but features large fans to maintain a comfortable environment. The typical shift is from 6am to 3pm, Monday through Friday, with flexibility for earlier starts and occasional overtime. During summer, shifts may start as early as 5am to beat the heat, and flexibility for Saturday work is rare but appreciated. Please note that it can be hot during summer months.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of PETERSBURG, Virginia.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
