Packaging Engineer
Description Position Summary: The Packaging Engineer will support product lines by ensuring that all packaging used for biologics, pharmaceuticals, reagents, and medical-grade products meets quality, regulatory, sustainability, and transportation requirements. This role is not a packaging design role—instead, it focuses on working with external packaging vendors, assessing materials, validating solutions for temperature-sensitive products, and ensuring robustness throughout storage and global distribution. Key Responsibilities: · Collaborate with external packaging vendors to select, evaluate, and qualify packaging solutions that meet the companies product requirements. · Ensure packaging supports temperature-sensitive life science products, maintaining integrity under varying temperature conditions such as refrigerated, frozen, or ambient shipping. · Manage packaging needs for plastic and glass materials, including vials, tubes, bottles, and IV bag components requiring specialized shipment. · Evaluate packaging performance for transportation and distribution, including protection, durability, sustainability, and compliance with regulatory expectations. · Conduct or coordinate validation activities such as transport testing, temperature simulations, and stress testing, ensuring packaging reliability under expected shipping conditions. · Drive packaging improvements related to sustainability, recyclability, and carbon-footprint reduction, aligning with corporate environmental goals. · Partner with cross-functional teams including Quality, Manufacturing, Product Management, and Supply Chain to ensure packaging meets operational needs. · Maintain documentation, vendor specifications, and qualification data according to internal quality systems. · Stay informed on industry trends, material innovations, and sustainable packaging practices Skills Packaging engineering, medical device, vendor management, Packaging, Packaging design, Solidworks, Supply chain, materials management, materials logistics, pharmaceutical industry, Project management, temperature controls, regulatory compliance, gmp environment Top Skills Details Packaging engineering,medical device,vendor management Additional Skills & Qualifications Required: · Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, or a related discipline. · Experience in packaging within the biotech, pharma, or life sciences industry. · Working knowledge of plastic and glass packaging materials. · Understanding of packaging considerations for temperature-controlled shipments (e.g., cold chain). · Experience supporting or working directly with external packaging vendors. · Strong understanding of packaging requirements for transportation, distribution, and regulatory compliance. Preferred: · Experience with ISTA, ASTM, or other packaging test standards for transport and environmental testing. · Knowledge related to sustainability, carbon-footprint analysis, and eco-friendly materials. · Familiarity with packaging for IV bags or fluid-handling medical products. · Prior experience in GMP or regulated manufacturing environments. Experience Level Intermediate Level Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Minneapolis, MN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $52.00 - $58.00/hr.
