Based in our **Sidney, Ohio** location, you will provide Packaging Engineering design solutions and support to leaders at global HVACR Technologies manufacturing locations. Your duties and responsibilities will be completed under the general guidance of the Packaging Engineering Manager for HVACR Technologies. You will exercise independent judgement and decision-making within the scope of this job. **AS A PACKAGING ENGINEER, YOU WILL:** + Apply basic mechanical sciences to perform design analysis of packaging components, including industry standard packing tests, basic static/dynamic compression analysis, strength of materials, and design optimization. + Implement returnable packaging designs to promote sustainability, reduce costs, and improve customer satisfaction. + Operate computer programs to support design analysis and engineering efforts. + Support project teams to develop and document packaging designs and specifications that meet the requirements of the product specifications and program charter. + Produce and maintain accurate design records in accordance with specific project requirements using accepted corporate methods and Design Standards, including engineering notices, bills of materials, specifications, and related documentation. + Provide support to product engineering, sales and marketing, engineering labs, manufacturing facilities, supplier quality, procurement, logistics, and advanced manufacturing. + Complete distribution studies, analyze, and summarize results with environmental data recorders. + Some travel required (5-10%) **REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:** + Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Engineering or an equivalent degree, plus work experience in related packaging design and/or manufacturing industry (co-op experience will be considered) + Knowledge of ASTM, ISTA, and NMFTA Industry Standard Packaging Testing Procedures + Strong verbal and written communication skills and professional presentation skills + Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and on a team + Legal authorization to work in the United States – Sponsorship will not be provided for this role. **PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, & SKILLS:** + Two (2) years of related professional packaging experience + Knowledge of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements + Two (2) years of ArtiosCAD, or AutoCAD experience + TOPS (Total Optimization Packaging Software) or CAPE (Computer Aided Packaging Engineering) experience + Experience with the major packaging materials, processes, and machinery + Returnable packaging design techniques and process experience **Collaboration First Hybrid Work Arrangements:** This role is hybrid eligible with the requirement to be in the office at least three days per week. Colleagues are expected to demonstrate a collaboration first mindset, which is the understanding that teams will work together in-person and colleagues should be flexible to adjust their hybrid days based on business needs.
