Packaging Associate

Job Title: Main Packaging  
Location: Opelika, AL
Shift Hours:  5:45am – 6:30 pm; $15.00/hour
Schedule: Week 1; Monday, Tuesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday
                              Week 2; Wednesday, Thursday (this schedule rotates in this manor permanently)
Responsibilities:

Pulls orders in accordance with "pick list"; verifies all components are included and transports using hand and electric pallet jacks to packaging line staging area. Fills bottle and product hoppers to ensure constant supply to line as required; uses overhead lifts as appropriate. Removes pallets of finished, packed product to quarantine area; uses pallet stacker equipment and replaces full pallets with empty ones as needed. Returns product and components to stock, accurately and in a timely fashion; and completes associated paper work to ensure maintenance of inventory records. Maintains work areas in a clean and orderly fashion (e.g., breaks down and palletizes used boxes, ensures empty drums and totes are stored properly). Performs duties in compliance with safety rules, and standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
A High School diploma or its equivalent is preferred.
Certification:
None.
Experience:
Requires a working knowledge of packaging line or warehouse operations typically resulting from six months, or more experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Requires: English speaking, reading and writing skills to communicate with supervisors and line leads, read/understand packaging standards and contents of product and components, and maintain routine written records. Basic math skills to determine amounts of product and packaging items, and maintain numerical records. Physical ability to work on feet for full shift and lift up to 50 pounds for more than half the shift.

Physical Requirements:

Pull, push and lift boxes, drums and similar loads of up to 50 pounds more than 50% of time.  Work safely under time pressures, tight deadlines and several people asking for help at one time.  Prioritize work.
*Must be able to walk and stand all shift long
*Lots of bending/turning/twisting at shoulder and hip areas during shift
*Must be able to perform repetitive motions with arms/wrists/hands
Environment:
Constant exposure to noise levels loud enough to require employees wear hearing protection when inside the packaging room.  Warm temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc., sufficient to cause minor discomfort.  Employees to wear protective eye wear, hair net, safety shoes and uniforms.
Safety:
The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices without endangering the health or safety of self or others.
