Position Summary:
We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a OT Clinical Specialist for Pediatric Outpatient.
In this role, the successful candidate is responsible for coordinating the patient care, training programs, and research endeavors for a specialty area practice or program within the Occupational Therapy department. Assists in the oversight of daily operations of the unit as needed.
Job Responsibilities:
Performs other duties as assigned. Demonstrate a leadership role in the development of specialized clinical expertise, communication, and teamwork. Demonstrates good judgment, initiative and independent thinking. Demonstrates direct involvement with clinical training and in service education. Recognizes when help is needed by others and offers guidance and assistance. Coordinates Occupational Therapy patient care rendered to both in and out patients in area of specialized clinical expertise. Education and training of all staff in areas of expertise to further enhance the departments clinical needs. Assists in evaluations and development of treatment plans for patients. Implements corrective actions when necessary. Trains staff to be able to cover when colleagues are out on sick/vacation days. Develops resource material to be utilized by staff members, i.e., suggests journals for library, accesses research articles, etc. rendered to the patient, i.e. pamphlets, video tapes, home programs in collaboration with other members of the team. Develops resource material to be utilized by staff members, i.e., suggests journals for library, accesses research articles, etc. Presents ideas/materials to be developed in area of clinical expertise to further enhance the department. Assists in the preparation and presentation of these materials. Assists in the coordination of the student program and other clinical education programs with senior staff and other management. Prepares and participates in educational sessions for patients, families, students, and house staff. Participates in lectures, seminars, and workshops by the Medical Center and other agencies, institutions and associations. Works in conjunction with staff and management on Performance Improvement and clinical research projects that will benefit the unit and/ or the department. Assists in developing goals, standards and evaluation criteria for Performance Improvement Projects. Collects data and solicits feedback from staff providing recommendations for revisions in PI projects with regards to clinical practice and departmental operations. Submits grant proposals and articles for publication or presentation at clinical conferences. Identifies new equipment that would facilitate programmatic growth and development. Assists with equipment and unit maintenance. Assists in Case Management responsibilities as they pertain to the Occupational Therapy plan of care for any clients within the unit. Works in collaboration with other unit team members as needed. Demonstrates continued proficiency in skills required to treat assigned patient population.Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree in Occupational Therapy. NYS Occupational Therapy license with valid, current registration. Minimum three (3) to five (5) years as a licensed Occupational Therapist with progressive responsibilities and development in a specific clinical area. Good communication and interpersonal skills. BLS certification (Issued by the American Heart Association-AHA, or the American Red Cross-ARC) OR CPR/AED certification (issued by the American Heart Association-AHA, or the American Red Cross-ARC) is required upon entry to the position.
Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy or a related field. Teaching experience. Greater than five (5) years clinical experience. Demonstrated leadership qualities.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $81,325.15 – $137,590.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
