**Overview** **About the Position:** This position is located at the Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC) Germany, Director for Surgery, Department of Rehabilitation, Orthotics and Prosthetics. The Landstuhl Regional Medical Center (LRMC), also known as Landstuhl Hospital, is a U.S. Army post in Landstuhl, Germany, near Ramstein Air Base. It is an amalgamation of Marceau Kaserne (German: Infanterie-Kaserne) and Wilson Barracks (Kirchberg-Kaserne), which were merged on October 15, 1951. LRMC, is the only forward-stationed medical center for U.S. & Coalition forces, Department of State personnel, and repatriated U.S. citizens. LRMC is the largest U.S. hospital outside the United States where it serves as the sole military medical center for more than 205,000 beneficiaries throughout Europe, the Middle East and Africa. LRMC is a jointly staffed Army commanded 100-bed Medical Center that is strategically located near Ramstein Air Base, providing 52 medical specialties and over 46,000 outpatient visits per month. LRMC is the only American College of Surgeons verified Level III Trauma Center outside the United States. Construction is ongoing for a new hospital facility (the Rhine Ordnance Barracks Medical Center Replacement) that will replace the existing hospital. Construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2027. For more information, please visit the following link: https://www.usajobs.gov/Help/working-in-government/benefits/ **This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.** **A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized.** **Who May Apply: US Citizens** **Responsibilities** + Conduct patient assessments, interprets prescriptions, and performs gait and biomechanical evaluations. + Design, fabricates, fits, and adjusts orthotic and prosthetic devices using established techniques and materials. + Provide patient education and follow up care to ensure proper device use, comfort, and function. + Maintain accurate clinical documentation and assists with training activities for students and junior staff. + Support laboratory operations, including inventory management, compliance tasks, and basic administrative reporting. + Provide routine technical guidance, verifies device quality, and assists with workflow and process improvements. + Performs Other Duties as Assigned **Qualifications** **Who May Apply: US Citizens** In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Additional information about transcripts isin this document (https://portal.chra.army.mil/hr\_public?id=kb\_article&sysparm\_article=KB0016283) . **Basic Requirements for** Orthotist-Prosthetist **:** **Specialized Experience:** One year of specialized experience includes assisting an orthotist/prosthetist with tasks such as measuring patients; fabricating and repairing orthotic and prosthetic devices; selecting appropriate materials; using specialized tools and equipment; fitting and adjusting devices; documenting patient care; coordinating with healthcare providers and vendors; maintaining inventory and supplies; and applying current fabrication techniques and safety practices. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. **Education** **FOREIGN EDUCATION:** If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
