Orthopedic Technician
Location: MacDill Air Force Base, Tampa, FL

Position Overview:
USGP is actively seeking a qualified Orthopedic Technician to support the Orthopedics Department at MacDill Air Force Base. This is a full-time position providing direct care and support to active duty service members, veterans, and their families in a dynamic, team-based environment.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalentAdditional training or education related to orthopedic care preferredExperience:
At least 1 year of orthopedic technician experience within the last 2 years in a hospital or accredited healthcare facilityFamiliarity with orthopedic trauma, pediatrics, hand/foot & ankle, spine, and sports medicine proceduresCertifications:
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association or Red Cross)Registration:
Must hold a valid national certification from one of the following:American Society of Orthopedic Professionals (ASOP)National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists (NBCOT)Immunization Requirements (Must be current or able to obtain):
Hepatitis B (series and titer)Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria, Pertussis)MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)Varicella (Chickenpox)TB (Tuberculosis) testSeasonal Influenza (flu) vaccineCOVID-19 vaccine (if applicable)Key Responsibilities May Include:
Assist physicians with orthopedic patient care, including brace fittings, cast and splint applications/removals, and suture removalSupport procedures such as wound care, aspirations, and fracture reductionsEducate patients on cast care, traction, and orthopedic device useMaintain cleanliness and supply levels in casting and patient care areasCoordinate ordering of specialized supplies, medications, and equipmentProvide occasional front desk support (not to exceed 10% of clinical time)Perform administrative duties such as:Updating patient profiles in the EMRComposing patient notes, doctor’s letters, and DME referralsAssisting with provider scheduling adjustmentsHandle surgical scheduling tasks, including:Completing pre-op documentation and surgical packetsCoordinating pre-op and imaging appointmentsProcessing surgical cancellations and other related dutiesWhy USGP?
