The University of Miami, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, has an exciting full time opportunity for an Ophthalmic Diagnostic Technologist in Plantation, Florida. The Ophthalmic Diagnostic Technologist 1 will m aintain competency in obtaining/recording the following items in the electronic medical record and p erform ocular testing using specialty-specific imaging devices. Performs and documents the following items : + Reason for visit + Intraocular pressure such as Goldman, Tono-Pen, and I-Care + Chief complaint + Pachymetry + History of present illness + Insertion and removal of hard & soft contact lenses + Basic review of systems + Color vision test + Review systemic and ocular medications + Stereopsis test + Record allergies + Sensorimotor exam + Pharmacy information + Automated & manual perimetry + Family, social, medical, and ocular history + Color fundus photography + Visual acuity + Fluorescein angiography + Lensometry + ICG (Indocyanine Green) angiography + Manual refraction + Optical coherence tomography + Confrontational fields + Slit lamp photography + Humphrey visual fields + External photography + Amsler Grid visual fields + Ocular motility photography + T angent screen visual fields + Automated Keratometry + Virtual Reality (VR) visual fields + A-scan biometry and IOL Master + Basic ocular motility + Contact/immersion A-Scan + Pupillary evaluation + High-resolution B-scan and standardized A-scan + Ocular surface assessment + S upervised globe and orbital exams + IVI Prep + Eye drop administration + Provides support to providers, including documentation in patient charts as required and directed for patient care . + Provides patient-centric care. + Adheres to University of Miami policies, standards, values, and required training. + Compliance with regulations and maintaining patient confidentiality. + Follow s best practices of patient safety, hand hygiene, and infection control. + Attend s educational courses for ophthalmic personnel when assigned. + Demonstrate s high quality of work through accuracy, timeliness, professionalism, and thoroughness. + Meet s daily productivity goals. + Ensure s all equipment is calibrated and instrumentation is properly working. + Participate in assigned clinical research and maintain required certifications. + Organize and stock rooms for daily clinical activities. + Travel s to satellite eye centers when necessary. + Work s evenings and weekends as needed. + Supports Virtual Care encounters and exams. QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School diploma or equivalent Required Certification s and Licensing: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA ) or Certified Retinal Angiography ( C RA ) or OCT-Certified (OCT-C) Experience: Minimum 3 years of relevant experience Knowledge, Skills, and Attitudes: + Works effectively with patients of all age groups. + Presents a professional appearance. + Communicates effectively, both verbally and in writing. + Demonstrates outstanding interpersonal skills. + Analyzes, organizes, and prioritizes tasks while working under pressure to meet deadlines. + Completes assignments accurately with attention to detail. + Makes independent, informed decisions regarding time management. + Seeks instruction in areas requiring additional knowledge. + Works independently and in a collaborative environment. + Demonstrates competency in all ophthalmic subspecialty patient workups. + Displays competent knowledge of ocular anatomy, function, and motility. + Identifies imaging instruments and modalities based on diagnosis. + Knowledgeable in computer software for all imaging modalities. + Demonstrates core knowledge of standardized imaging protocols based on diagnosis. + Displays competent understanding of standardized probe positioning and scan labeling. + Demonstrates competen cy and understanding of appropriate selection of ultrasound probes. + Performs standardized ultrasound protocols. + Displays competent knowledge of refractometry. + Maintains OPS and JCHAPO certifications. + Uploads all imaging modalities and ultrasound scans to the PACS platform. + Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
