Position Description
The Operations Manager is responsible for all facets of operating a pipeline system and the terminal/storage facilities. This position is also responsible for supervising maintenance and construction projects, cultivating good customer relationships, developing employees, and leading in training efforts. Responsible for Emergency Response within the assigned area, supervises the activities of the pipeline construction and maintenance field employees, contractors, and the pipeline operators. This position requires management of overtime, costs, and related operating expenses. The Operations Manager will be responsible for forecasting staffing needs and hiring.
Essential duties and responsibilities: • Demonstrate and demand a safety culture of zero accidents. • Ensure compliance with company manuals and policies. • Take all possible measures to protect the environment, the public, employees, and assets. • Supervise the general maintenance and operation of the pipeline and terminal storage facilities. • Supervise construction and maintenance projects by managing employees as well as contractors to finish projects on time and on budget. • Supervise and coordinate the activities of pipeline gaugers. • Take overall responsibility for equipment maintenance and repair on the system. • Use good critical thinking skills to identify and solve problems. • Consult with Operations Director on major maintenance and repair issues. • Understand emergency procedures, review SPCC and FRP annually, and be prepared for emergency response. • Keep all paperwork and documentation required up to date and complete. • During on call status, individual should have cell phone with them at all times. Timely responses are essential. • Other duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
Education and experience: • High school degree or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred. • General knowledge of terminal/storage facilities, gathering systems, product movement, pipeline construction, and pipeline maintenance. • Follows company policies, practices, and regulatory requirements.
Supervisory responsibilities: • Area manager. Qualifications: • Good verbal and written communication skills. • Strong leadership skills. • Customer-oriented. • Works in a team oriented atmosphere with strong team building skills. • Ability to effectively present information in a one-on-one and small group situations to other employees and outside contractors. • Math skills (necessary to do budgeting and engineering calculations). • Apply common sense understanding to carry out day-to-day operation issues. • Be able to make quick and reasonable decisions in sometimes-adverse conditions. Certificates, licenses, registrations: • Valid state operating license with acceptable driving record according to the Company.
