The Outbound Operations Manager is responsible for the full outbound process within a shift at a Fulfillment Center, from the Pick area through Sort, Pack, and Ship areas. This role coordinates, manages, and coaches the activities of the entire shift team.
Key job responsibilities
Operational Leadership:
- Lead the start of shift (SOS) planning meeting
- Ensure shift headcount, throughput per hour (TPH), and volume finish consistent with the FC's long-term plan (21-day Plan)
- Protect Customer Experience (CE) by ensuring all shipments are processed and departed on time
- Oversee end of shift (EOS) reporting that thoroughly and accurately documents shift performance
- Plan the next day's shift
Team Development:
- Develop Area Manager direct reports through one-on-one interactions and evaluations
- Manage shift interactions outside of the department
- Coach and coordinate activities of the whole shift team
Performance Metrics: Performance is evaluated across four key pillars:
- Safety
- Quality
- Customer Experience
- Cost
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Experience in written and spoken English and an ability to compose grammatically correct, concise and accurate written responses
- Experience in employee and performance management
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with performance metrics and process improvement and Lean techniques
