Position Description
Purpose:
Based in Amarillo, TX, this position will report directly to the Director of Operations and will be responsible for financial analysis, forecasting, variance explanations, and budget preparation for Division 4. Other responsibilities include payment coordination, accounting entries, payroll accounting, and various ad-hoc projects. Division 4 is responsible for the operation and maintenance of 42 compressor stations and 5,540 miles of pipeline in Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico. The Kinder Morgan title for this position of Operations Coordinator does not adequately convey the size, scope, impact or importance of this position. At other organizations the position would be known as Controller, Business Analyst, Budget Analyst, Financial Analyst, or similar.

Main Responsibilities:
+ Ensure accurate and timely financial reports (O&M and capital) including financial forecasting, accruals, and variance explanations.
+ Facilitate the annual budget preparation, analysis, and presentations. This includes fleet vehicles, tools, projects, labor, and non-labor expenses.
+ Provide financial guidance to a division team made up of six Managers, six Administrators, and 26 Supervisors. In 2026, the division has approximately $63 million annual operating and $44 million annual capital expenditure.
+ Must be willing to plan and schedule leave time to minimize the interference with requirements of the task of forecasting/variance reporting that typically occurs the first two weeks of each month.
+ Frequently and effectively communicates with the corporate finance team, project managers, and division staff to meet the division’s financial goals.
+ Must have a high degree of initiative and ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.
Position Requirements
Required Qualifications:
+ Accurately manages budgets, reconcile accounts, and ensure compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
+ Exceptional attention to detail and time management skills.
+ Process oriented person that’s comfortable with routine and has a focus on procedures.
+ Advanced Excel pivot table and formula skill set.
+ Intermediate computer skills (knowledge of MS Office, operating systems, database applications, ability to quickly learn company-specific applications).
+ Math and financial skills (necessary for budgeting and financial tracking).
+ Excellent oral / written communication and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels in the organization.
+ Strong listening skills
+ Ability to work under short-notice deadlines and prioritize work
Education:
+ Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or a technical field. Candidate with significant experience and directly transferrable skills may be considered with a different type of degree.
Preferred Qualifications, Experience, Skills and Knowledge:
+ Experience with Lawson financial systems.
+ Preference may be given to those with experience in the energy or natural gas industry.
Working Conditions:
+ The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, reach with hands and arms, occasionally required to walk and climb or balance, lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
