The Operations Automation Engineering Internship experience is a 10.5-week full-time opportunity that starts on May 27th, 2026, and concludes on August 7th, 2026. This is a hybrid position with 3 days (generally Tuesday – Thursday) in the Northbrook, IL ATP (Advanced Technology Pharmacy). The other 2 days (generally Monday and Friday) will be working remotely from home or the corporate office.
Interns who live more than 50 miles from their assigned location may be eligible for a one-time relocation stipend.
The pay rate is $25/hr with 40 hours/week, no work on July 4th (company holiday), and two days of paid leave. Additionally, our corporate interns have an increased likelihood of receiving an offer for a future role with CVS Health.
**Sponsorship:**
Work visa sponsorship is available for this role. This includes participation in Curricular Practical Training (CPT), Optional Practical Training (OPT), and F-1 Visa programs.
**About this business area:**
CVS Health’s Caremark Operations Automation Engineering team runs highly automated systems that help get prescriptions delivered with the highest accuracy and safety, while making sure every step is smooth, accurate, and easy to scale. Our intern will play a vital role by contributing fresh perspectives, supporting operational initiatives, integration of new dispensing technology, and learning from real-time engineering challenges.
**You will gain valuable work experience and participate in:**
+ Supporting engineering projects in the development and testing of new automation technology.
+ Assisting project management execution by developing project plans, activity follow ups, and status reports to team members and senior management.
+ Under direction from Director of Process Engineering, make and recommend planning decisions that will affect the overall status of critical projects.
+ Work with key engineering team members in developing Functional System Descriptions (FSDs) to be used in the development of new automated processes affecting quality and throughput in prescription dispensing.
This role supports automated engineering projects that improve pharmacy operations by helping design and test new systems and processes. It assists project management through planning, tracking, and reporting to keep leadership informed. Under guidance, it contributes to critical decisions and documentation that shape how prescriptions are dispensed with greater speed, accuracy, and quality.
**Required Qualifications:**
+ Meet educational requirements (see Education section below)
+ Availability to work full-time for the duration of the internship program
+ Authorized to work in the United States with sponsorship (see above)
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ Prior internship, co-op, or work experience in project management, engineering (industrial, mechanical, or electrical)
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Microsoft Project, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar platforms
+ Demonstrated leadership experience through student organizations, athletics, volunteer work, or academic projects
+ Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present ideas clearly and effectively
+ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
+ Must have a current passport and the ability to travel, if needed
**Education:**
+ You should be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree
+ Have a graduation date between September 2026 and August 2027
+ Major, minor or concentration relevant to the position such as related majors: Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering

$25.00 - $25.00
