**General Summary:**
The Operational Policy & Benefits Regulatory Support Consultant collaborates closely with business stakeholders in operational and functional areas across US Operations and is responsible to lead policy development to minimize risk and provide clarity on administration.
The position is also accountable for partnering with operational and functional areas to ensure that policy goals are achieved, aligned, and documented for operational and compliance assurance requirements. This includes close partnering with corporate compliance, corporate privacy, and regulatory affairs, responding to regulatory agencies and other parties, as part of a Market Conduct Examination or other regulatory process and/or complex privacy incidents providing full, complete, timely, and technically accurate responses to the issues raised.
This position provides value by ensuring the business implications of policy change are clearly articulated including financial, risk and customer impacts. All work will enable achievement of regulatory compliance assurance goals, through consistency and alignment across all supported business areas, and with focus on delivery of policy improvements in productivity, risk management documentation and business capabilities.
**Principal Duties and Responsibilities**
+ Supports the company vision by working collaboratively with key business stakeholders to ensure alignment, understanding, and clearly written operational policy documentation to deliver upon the company and organizational vision.
+ Leads operational policy improvement and risk evaluation assignments/projects (with or without technical applications).
+ Evaluates and determines impact of new and existing State and Federal regulations, State Disaster directives and Market Conduct exams, including implementing necessary operational policy changes.
+ Strong business acumen with the ability to draw correlations and clearly articulate how a policy change in one aspect of the business has up or downstream impacts to other business areas, including clear guidance on financial and customer impacts.
+ Partners with subject matter experts to elicit, capture, analyze, and refine policy to build shared understanding and clarification of the request, while executing on the technical writing elements of implementing the policy change. Collaborates with key stakeholders and business partners to keep a pulse on current and emerging trends relative to business policies.
+ Partners with management team and compliance partners to identify procedure changes in Benefits Center resulting from requirements from Regulatory and other Exam findings.
+ Reviews and resolves reported privacy incidents, researching and collaborating with business partners regarding corrective actions.
+ Accountable to deliver on service level expectations and quality of work.
+ Proactively identifies trends or risk issues for consideration of procedure refinement in response to such trends.
+ Active participation and/or facilitates in all applicable team meetings and policy committees.
+ Manages to deadlines required by external entities and internal partners and manages to internal time service standards or as prioritized by the director.
+ Accountable for the management of the Benefits Center Letter Library and all standard Benefits claim forms used in the administration of claims in support of State and Federal requirements.
+ Leads self-development and the development of peers through sharing best practices.
+ May perform other duties as assigned.
**Job Specifications**
+ 5+ years of business experience, preferably in the benefit solutions and/or insurance industry. College degree, preferred.
+ Excellent technical and business writing skills; proven ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
+ Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, and meet deadlines. Meticulous attention to detail and quality of work product.
+ Change agent able to embrace new ways of working, challenge the status quo, and support teams through change.
+ Proven history of having strong interpersonal skills and engaging with customers/ cross-functional stakeholders at all levels, in a wide variety of situations, and proven/demonstrated ability to listen, influence, and relate to customers/stakeholders in their own language.
+ Creative thinker and problem solver who can confidently express complex ideas in an articulate, concise manner; Proven experience in consulting, negotiation, and persuasion skills.
+ Demonstrates high levels of ownership and accountability. Self-starter and ability to effectively chart a path forward in ambiguous situations or with limited direction.
+ Demonstrates foundational knowledge across multiple operational/business functions.
+ Experience creating process maps preferred.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, TEAMs, and SharePoint.
+ Proficient understanding of Unum’s knowledge management strategy and platforms.

The base salary range for applicants for this position is listed below. Unless actual salary is indicated above in the job description, actual pay will be based on skill, geographical location and experience.
$63,500.00-$120,000.00
Additionally, Unum offers a portfolio of benefits and rewards that are competitive and comprehensive including healthcare benefits (health, vision, dental), insurance benefits (short & long-term disability), performance-based incentive plans, paid time off, and a 401(k) retirement plan with an employer match up to 5% and an additional 4.5% contribution whether you contribute to the plan or not. All benefits are subject to the terms and conditions of individual Plans.
