Job Description
The Operation Technician is responsible for maintaining and operating mechanical sampling systems in bulk terminals handling coal, coke, and petroleum coke. The role requires ensuring the highest equipment availability through well-maintained systems and a preventive maintenance program.
ResponsibilitiesClean exterior and interior components of a mechanical sampling system using compressed air, water, or hand/powered tools.Remove material buildup, soil, or spills from equipment, facilities, walkways, platforms, grounds, offices, tools, and vehicles.Observe and assess MSS and MPS equipment performance and condition during operational and static conditions.Record sample ratio data, weights, tonnages, equipment parameters, loading sequence tracking, and sample identification tags.Ensure proficiency with Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.Work rotational shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays, with overtime as required.Operate in various weather conditions, including significant temperature variations and precipitation.Perform tasks involving brief or extended periods of walking, standing, ladder climbing, and work on uneven surfaces.Use basic mathematics and data entry skills in Microsoft Word and Excel programs.Essential SkillsProficiency in Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures.Strong time-management skills.Dependability and promptness.Ability to follow directions and work safely and efficiently.Excellent customer service skills.Ability to work in a team-oriented environment.Additional Skills & QualificationsBasic mathematics and data entry skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.Ability to understand, read, and write in English.Legible handwriting and use of a calculator.Why Work Here?

Work Environment
The position involves outdoor work in various weather conditions, including exposure to high/low temperatures and precipitation. It requires brief or extended periods of walking, standing, and climbing ladders/stairs, as well as working on uneven or unstable surfaces. The work environment can be demanding, often involving general labor tasks and inspection duties.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.25 - $18.25/hr.
