Open Rank Assistant or Associate Professor of Pathology

The Department of Pathology at the University of Virginia invites applications for a full time Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic Pathology and Clinical Pathology certified Pathologist with interest in Surgical Pathology and/or Cytopathology. This is an open rank, tenure optional position. Special straining, experience, or interest in the diagnostic Pathology of the Head and Neck, Genitourinary Tract, or Gastrointestinal Tract, to complement existing departmental expertise in these growing areas, would be of particular interest.
The successful candidate will participate in sign-out of routine and consultation surgical pathology and/or cytopathology cases as part of a subspecialized diagnostic workflow. A digital pathology workflow for primary diagnosis is already implemented as an option for faculty and learners in Surgical Pathology.
Subspecialty fellowship training or equivalent expertise in one or more of the above areas is desirable, while teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as scholarly activity, is expected. Additionally, the qualified candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work as a team member.

Education: Candidates must have a MD degree or equivalent
Certification: Qualified candidates must be board-certified or eligible for certification in Anatomic Pathology or Anatomic and Clinical Pathology.
Licensure: Candidates must be eligible for an unrestricted licensure in the State of Virginia.
