Older Adult Behavioral Health Educator Summary **Title:** Older Adult Behavioral Health Educator **ID:** 5744 **Department:** Therapy Services **Salary Range:** N/A **Employment Status:** Part-time Description **This is a part time position, appx. 20 hours per week.** POSITION SUMMARY - This position works as a liaison with older adult community providers to support older adults and their caregivers. Provides evidence-based training and education in the community and participates in wellness fairs and other community events as a way to provide resources to older adults and caregivers in the community. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following: • Liaison with senior living facilities and senior centers in Ray, Platte, and Clay County. Missouri. • Responsible for tracking Older Adult community activities as dictated by grants in place. • Acts as a knowledge expert and educates the community regarding Older Adult Programming. • Assists the Manager in seeking program funding and outcome data for Older Adult Programming. • Conducts support groups to older adults with the focus of increasing coping strategies. • Conducts support groups for caregivers and kinship care (Grandfamilies). • Offers education and support to older adults on topics of grief, depression, and other mental health topics. • Organizes and leads programming and classes in the community. • Leads the planning of a yearly conference, and other special events, with the focus on aging community and caregivers. • Creates monthly newsletter/calendar and other email blasts about events occurring in the community. • Works with Beacon social media staff to create flyers and other media information about events. • Attends monthly coalition meetings to network with other professionals in the older adult community. • Provides referrals and provides care coordination, in conjunction with the Older Adult Case Manager, to individuals and families seeking support and resources. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES) Education: • Bachelor’s degree in a related social services field required. Master’s degree preferred. • Active driver’s license and minimum state-required auto-insurance. • CPR/First Aid Certification required. Experience Required: • 1 – 2 years in a similar related position or worked with older adults and/or caretakers OR demonstration of training, leading education groups or liaison work. Required Knowledge: • Knowledge of behavioral health in the older adult population • General knowledge of community resources and/or the willingness to research as needed Skills/Abilities: • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint • The ability to use and troubleshoot basic business equipment. • The ability to interact with a wide range of individuals. • Strong ability to multi-task with a high level of accuracy and timeliness in project output. • The ability to maintain a high level of client confidentiality. • Ability to problem solve quickly and prioritize tasks for optimum efficiency.
