Position Summary:

We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Nurse Practitioner for the Chronic Respiratory Failure & Home Ventilation Program in Manhattan. 

The Chronic Respiratory Failure & Home Ventilation Program at NYU Langone Health is an interdisciplinary, academically based program focused on the longitudinal management of patients with complex ventilatory needs. The program is embedded within a collaborative care model that includes Pulmonary and Critical Care physicians, Respiratory Therapists, Neurology, and Rehabilitation Medicine.

We are seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join this growing program and serve as a key clinical provider across outpatient management and transitions of care between inpatient and outpatient settings.

This role is intentionally specialized and best suited for an NP with a strong critical care background who is seeking advanced subspecialty practice, increasing autonomy, and academic career development.

Job Responsibilities:

Provide longitudinal outpatient care for patients with chronic respiratory failureManage patients requiring:Home invasive and non-invasive ventilatory supportLong-term tracheostomy careParticipate in transitions of care, including:Communication across inpatient, outpatient, and home-based care teamsCoordination of ventilator setup and outpatient follow-upInterpret ventilator data, including remote monitoring outputsCollaborate closely with:Pulmonary and critical care physiciansRespiratory therapistsNeurology and Rehabilitation MedicineNursing and allied health professionals

Academic, Leadership & Professional Development

Participate in program growth and refinement within an academic environmentDevelop leadership skills with mentorship from physician and APP leadersEngage in quality improvement initiatives and outcomes trackingParticipate in academic activities aligned with interest and institutional support, including:Teaching and mentoring learnersPresentations or scholarly disseminationBuild expertise that supports participation in regional and national initiatives related to chronic respiratory failure care

Specialized Skills You Will Develop

Advanced management of home ventilator dependent patientsTracheostomy management across care settingsAirway clearance strategies for neuromuscular diseaseRemote monitoring and interpretation of ventilator dataIndependent subspecialty practice within a collaborative academic team

Minimum Qualifications:

To qualify you must have:

Licensure: Current registration as Professional Nurse in New York and Registration as Nurse Practitioner in New York.Education: Master's Degree in Nursing.Certification required (as soon as feasible following graduation from NP graduate program) by ANCC or Board Certification from other specialty organization that certifies Nurse Practitioners in a clinical area of practice.Basic Life Support Certification through the American Heart Association.Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience, preferably medical, pulmonary, or neurocritical carePrior experience in:
o Pulmonary, critical care, or complex chronic disease management
o Neuromuscular disease populations (e.g., ALS, muscular dystrophy, spinal cord injury)
o Long-term invasive and non-invasive ventilator management
o Academic or tertiary care environments
Interest in quality improvement, program development, teaching, or scholarly work.

Required Licenses: Registered Nurse License-NYS, Nurse Practitioner-NYS, Basic Life Support Cert

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York state Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $151,530.94 - $182,030.94 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
