Job Description
MAJOR DUTIES
The Nuclear Services Specialist supports the operation and maintenance of specialized nuclear automated tooling to ensure its availability, reliability, and performance. This role requires knowledge of nuclear tool design, analysis, operation, and maintenance in radioactive environments. Key systems include reactor inspection and maintenance tooling and reactor refurbishment tooling.
Responsibilities can include developing maintenance and test procedures, troubleshooting, managing spare parts, collaborating with client engineering and technical personnel, and testing and commissioning nuclear automated tooling. This may involve setting up and managing CNSC-licensed maintenance facilities, tools, and mock-ups.
Travel or shift work providing technical services at licensed nuclear sites in Ontario may be required and may include sites in Bruce County, Brampton, Pickering, Darlington, and Chalk River.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Planning Functions:
Perform project management tasks for customer deliverables.
Participate in kick-off meetings, pre-job briefings, post-job reviews, and lessons learned meetings.
Assist with planning and concepting upgrades for automated tooling.
Organize and coordinate tasks for maintenance and testing operations.
Collaborate on and communicate task logic using diagrams and schedules.
Monitor and report progress, delays, risks, and impact on the overall schedules
Identify, schedule, and track procurement of critical long-lead items.
Logistics Support:
Interface with clients' Contract Supervisors and vendors.
Support shipping and receiving of contaminated equipment, including packing/unpacking tools and compliance with radioactive shipping procedures.
Support tooling readiness reviews.
Procedures & Documentation:
Generate work packages, procedures, test plans, training content, and manuals.
Collect data and document tooling status and production rates as required
Perform data analysis and create detailed technical summaries for emergent issues and future improvements.
Create shift logs adhering to the format and quality requested by the project and customer.
Spare Parts Management:
Manage procurement, delivery, and storage of spare parts and materials to maintain inventory.
Determine reorder points and quantities for spare parts and materials.
Assist with maintenance of a spare parts inventory
Prepare spare parts kits for outages and manage the return of unused parts to long-term storage.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
Execute testing procedures and perform maintenance for automated tooling during development and upgrades.
Assist with staging and preparing facility work areas and reactor mock-ups.
Assist with assembling equipment and preparing emergent work instructions
Lead troubleshooting efforts, root cause evaluations, and problem solving exercises with crews
Set up controls, computer systems, and cabling for testing and troubleshooting operations.
Prepare recovery plans, implement troubleshooting plans and preventive actions.
General Duties:
Seek opportunities for continuous improvement of processes and efficiency improvements.
Provide site support to Bruce Power, Ontario Power Generation (OPG), Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), or other nuclear industry clients.
Meet agreed-upon goals and objectives in a timely manner.
Ensure all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
Adhere to all health and safety rules and procedures.
Short Description
QUALIFICATIONS
Site Requirements
Required to be a Nuclear Energy Worker (NEW) due to reactor vault work and handling contaminated tooling at CNSC-licensed facilities.
Security clearances from Bruce Power, OPG, and/or CNL are required for short-term assignments at their CNSC-licensed sites.
Education
Engineering degree or post-secondary technology degree/diploma in mechanical technology, mechatronics, robotics, controls, industrial or manufacturing engineering, or equivalent.
Experience
Experience in assembly, testing, and commissioning of automated nuclear tooling.
Working knowledge of nuclear quality systems, codes, and standards (CSA N285, CSA Z299, CSA N299).
High proficiency in computer software applications, including Microsoft Office, PLM software, SolidWorks, SCADA
Strong verbal and written communication skills, leadership, and customer-facing behavior
Project engineering, electro-mechanical analysis, and project management experience is an asset.
