The Senior Nuclear Quality Engineer ensures product reliability and compliance with Nuclear industry, customer, and company standards. This role involves informal leadership and cross-functional collaboration with Supply Chain, Engineering, and Manufacturing to manage orders from procurement to delivery. Key responsibilities include overseeing the site’s Nuclear QMS, serving as Lead Auditor, facilitating cross-departmental problem-solving, and managing internal non-conformance processes using deep industry expertise to support this critical business segment.
Responsibilities:
QMS Leadership & Compliance: Lead the site’s Nuclear Quality Management System and audit programs (internal, supplier, and customer) to ensure strict adherence to ASME BPVC, NQA-1, 10 CFR 50/21, ISO 9001, and ISO 19443.Strategic Cultural Change: Drive a high-performance quality culture and Nuclear Safety Culture aligned with Flowserve values, fostering accountability, operational excellence, and integrity across all organizational levels.Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with Engineering, Project Management, and Operations to oversee project specifications, ITP development, and quality documentation while ensuring proactive compliance throughout the product lifecycle.Advanced Problem Solving & Coaching: Facilitate and coach teams in RCA, CAPA, and data analysis to resolve nuclear customer complaints, product escapes, and failure trends, presenting technical results to stakeholders.Supplier & Project Management: Manage the Nuclear Approved Vendor List (AVL) and partner with Supplier Quality to monitor performance, using project management tools to ensure timely milestone completion.Operational Excellence & Process Mapping: Utilize detailed process mapping and data-driven decision-making to evaluate existing systems, identify improvement opportunities, and support ERP/PLM system deployments.Customer & Stakeholder Interface: Serve as the primary quality liaison for nuclear customers and suppliers, managing communications from the factory floor to executive leadership to resolve complex quality issues.Initiative & Change Management: Lead continuous improvement initiatives within a matrix organization, implementing new business practices and adapting demeanor to meet shifting situational demands.Requirements:
Industry & Quality Standards: Proven overall minimum 5 yrs of experience in metal-mechanic industries with mastery of ASME BPVC, NQA-1, 10 CFR 50/21, ISO 9001:2015, and ISO 19443 (or NPCIL/AERB equivalents).Education Background: Bachelor’s degree in engineering field (manufacturing, industrial, or mechanical).Auditing & Compliance: Certified NQA-1 Lead Auditor with practical ISO 9001:2015 experience and expertise in Commercial Grade Dedication (CGD) and material upgrades.Continuous Improvement: Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or CQE preferred (Green Belt minimum), skilled in process mapping, risk assessment (PFMEA), and Lean methodologies.Advanced Problem Solving: Expert in 8D, A3, and RCA/CAPA tools with a demonstrated ability to coach and lead team-oriented problem-solving initiatives.Supply Chain & Systems: Strong background in Supplier Quality Management and proficiency in Quality Software Systems, Microsoft Office, and process-driven workflows.Communication & Logistics: Bilingual fluency in English (business level) and a willingness to travel up to 10% as required.Flowserve is a world-leading manufacturer and aftermarket service provider of comprehensive flow control systems.
