The Production Technician III plays a vital role in executing cGMP manufacturing activities within a regulated biologics environment, focusing primarily on Downstream Purification. This position involves independently carrying out complex processing tasks, aiding in troubleshooting, resolving deviations, and acting as a technical resource for junior technicians during night shift operations. The role requires working night shifts on a 12-hour, 2-2-3 schedule.
ResponsibilitiesExecute downstream purification operations in accordance with batch records, SOPs, and cGMP requirements.Operate and monitor chromatography systems using Unicorn software (e.g., ÄKTA skids), including method execution, alarms, and system performance.Perform purification unit operations such as chromatography, buffer preparation, solution transfers, and filtration.Conduct in-process sampling and analyses (e.g., pH, conductivity, UV) and document results per GDP standards.Perform equipment setup, changeover, CIP/SIP, and line clearance activities.Troubleshoot process and equipment issues and support deviation investigations and corrective actions.Train and mentor Production Technician I and II personnel.Maintain compliance with safety, environmental, and quality regulations.Essential SkillsAdvanced experience in downstream purification, specifically chromatography using Unicorn software.Strong understanding of cGMP manufacturing and electronic or paper batch record execution.Ability to work independently on night shift and support continuous operations.Experience in biologics, biotech, or pharmaceutical manufacturing.Additional Skills & QualificationsHigh School Diploma or GED with 2 years of related experience, or Associate’s degree in life science with 0–1 years of related experience, or equivalent military training or experience.Preferred: 2+ years of experience in a cGMP manufacturing environment.Preferred: BioWork Certificate.Work EnvironmentThe work environment requires physical capabilities such as wearing respiratory protection, discerning audible cues, performing tasks requiring 20/20 corrected vision, including color distinction, and the ability to ascend and descend ladders, scaffolding, or ramps. The position involves standing or sitting for prolonged periods, performing repetitive motions with wrists, hands, and fingers, and lifting up to 33 lbs. The role operates in various temperature conditions (0°F–100°F), may involve working in small or enclosed spaces, and at heights greater than 4 feet. The work does not routinely require outdoor activities or operating powered industrial trucks.
