Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Engineer – PDS Tech

PDS Tech is seeking a motivated and collaborative Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE) Engineer to join our Composite Materials and Nondestructive Evaluation team in Mesa, Arizona. We are hiring at the associate, experienced, and senior levels.

This role supports advanced aerospace platforms, including fixed-wing, rotorcraft, and proprietary programs. You will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams while applying your expertise in nondestructive inspection of composite and metallic structures.

Position Overview

As an NDE Engineer with PDS Tech, you will work both independently and as part of collaborative engineering teams. You will apply your knowledge of materials, processes, and nondestructive inspection methods to ensure product integrity, support production readiness, and drive continuous improvement.

Position Responsibilities

Review and interpret ultrasonic inspection results

Design reference standards and develop inspection plans and sequences

Review and approve internal and supplier NDT inspection techniques

Develop and qualify new NDT inspection processes

Qualify NDT inspection equipment

Maintain proficiency in relevant NDE methods such as Ultrasonics, Radiography, Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, and Liquid Penetrant

Assist in defining requirements for tools, equipment, materials, and processes

Draft and produce engineering specifications and documentation

Interface with design, manufacturing, and quality engineering teams to align inspection requirements

Assist in certification and qualification of NDE equipment

Support development and deployment of new inspection technologies including Gauge R&R and Probability of Detection studies

Investigate and resolve NDT related nonconformances, corrective actions, and process improvements

Support evaluation of emerging NDT technologies for new and existing programs

Compile reports documenting evaluations, results, and procedures

Support development of production and computer systems to meet user requirements

Apply project management tools to track cost, technical scope, and schedule

Implement EHS, LEAN, and Quality principles in all work activities

Maintain compliance with contractual, regulatory, and export control requirements

Export Compliance

This position requires compliance with U.S. export control regulations. Candidates must meet the definition of a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee).

Required Skills

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in:

Engineering

Computer Science

Mathematics

Physics

Chemistry

Minimum 3+ years of experience working in Nondestructive Evaluation (NDE)

Preferred Skills

5+ years of related experience

ASNT Level II or III certifications in UT, RT, MT, PT, or ET

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Ability to clearly convey technical concepts to various audiences

Functional knowledge of the instruments, systems, and software used in:

Ultrasonic inspection (pulse echo, through transmission, pitch catch, phased array)

Magnetic particle, penetrant, and eddy current inspection

Radiographic inspection

Experience developing and fabricating reference standards

Experience with robotics, 3D modeling, 3D printing, CT scanning, or ultrasonic phased array

Experience in engineering or scientific laboratory environments

Ability to read engineering drawings and use Microsoft Office tools

Pay Details: $60.00 to $70.00 per hour
