**The Position**
We’re currently looking for a lab-based scientist with a strong understanding of hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) biology / hematopoiesis to evaluate the efficacy, safety, and translatability of new therapies in non-malignant hematological disorders, focusing on hemoglobinopathies. As part of a highly collaborative, international team, you will work alongside research associates and scientists developing medicines for the future.
This is a hands-on laboratory position. You will use cell culture–based in vitro models to characterize and validate therapeutic strategies for anemic disorders, and support studies using preclinical animal models. This role requires strong expertise in cell culture assays and a range of in vitro techniques, particularly flow cytometry, along with prior experience in animal handling and experimentation.
These responsibilities capture a portion of what your work will look like:
+ Contribute to early drug discovery projects by evaluating the efficacy and safety of novel therapeutic targets or compounds using cell culture assays, and preclinical animal models.
+ Work with cell lines, primary cells and tissues including patient-derived material, performing genetic manipulation assays, ex vivo differentiation cultures, and molecular assays (e.g., multicolor flow cytometry, qPCR, western blotting).
+ Work with transgenic mouse models, including handling, tissue collection and processing
+ Independently design, execute, and interpret complex preclinical studies; and guide associates as needed.
+ Analyze data using robust statistical methods, maintain detailed documentation, and effectively communicate findings to the research team
+ Collaborate with team members, share responsibilities, maintain a clean lab, and foster a positive work environment.
**Who You Are**
You are genuinely driven, curious about science, and thrive in an energetic, collaborative team. You seek opportunities to explore your interests across teams and regions, and working in a multicultural environment motivates you.
+ PhD in Life Sciences (e.g., cellular/molecular biology, pharmacology, immunology, hematology) is a required
+ Strong theoretical and technical background in HSC biology and hematopoiesis, proven by a track record of publications and collaborations, is a must-have.
+ Extensive experience in cell culture and in vitro molecular assays, with a specific must-have expertise in multicolor flow cytometry.
+ Authorization to conduct animal experimentation (e.g., active LTK1, FELASA, or equivalent) and prior experience working with rodents are must-have requirements.
+ A strong “can-do” attitude, being highly organized, committed to meticulous record-keeping, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment are essential.
+ Fluency in English, with strong presentation and communication skills, is required.
+ Relevant industrial experience is preferred but not mandatory
