Non Destructive Testing Specialist
Job Title: Non-Destructive Testing SpecialistJob Description

The role of a Non-Destructive Testing Specialist involves conducting non-destructive testing using Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) methods in accordance with CGSB/ISO or NAS410 standards. This position requires proficiency in equipment setup, part evaluation, interpretation of results, and documentation to ensure product quality and safety. The specialist will guide trainees and maintain high inspection standards within a dynamic manufacturing environment.

ResponsibilitiesSet up, calibrate, and operate MT and UT equipment as per written procedures and specifications.Perform nondestructive testing on components and materials using approved methods and interpret results.Evaluate indications to determine acceptability in line with applicable standards and customer requirements.Accurately document results in inspection records and ensure traceability.Perform system performance checks and daily equipment verification to ensure reliability and compliance.Maintain and calibrate inspection equipment according to internal schedules and industry requirements.Support the development and validation of inspection techniques based on approved procedures.Ensure adherence to applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications.Comply with internal quality control processes and contribute to ongoing compliance reviews and audits.Follow all safety procedures and work instructions to minimize risk.Provide guidance and supervision to trainees and Level 1 personnel as per the Written Practice.Support the skill development of junior staff by offering feedback and ensuring procedural compliance.Actively participate in training and ongoing certification activities.Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to ensure accurate defect detection and analysis.Contribute to process improvements in inspection methods, reporting, and documentation.Participate in team meetings and improvement initiatives, offering technical input where applicable.Essential SkillsTechnical proficiency in operating NDT equipment and interpreting data.Strong attention to detail and documentation accuracy.Ability to follow detailed procedures and standards.Clear communication skills for providing guidance and documenting findings.Organizational skills for managing multiple inspections and maintaining traceability.Additional Skills & QualificationsGraduate of an Engineering Technology program, or equivalent.Valid CGSB/ISO Level MT2 & UT1 certification (or MT2 & UT2 under NAS410).Documented experience performing NDT in accordance with certification requirements.In-depth understanding of Ultrasonic Testing (UT) and Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) techniques.Knowledge of system performance check requirements.Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and manufacturing processes.Work Environment

The position is connected to the Engineering Department with indirect reporting to Manufacturing for scheduling coordination. The work environment is hands-on, primarily on the shop floor, involving continuous collaboration with engineering teams. It includes reporting and documentation tasks.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $87000.00 - $109000.00/yr.
