Job Description

What is the opportunity?

RBC's Advice Centre Data team extracts powerful insights from comprehensive datasets using advanced NLP, machine learning, and generative AI. We build innovative AI-powered services and products that transform advisor-client interactions by mining conversation data, transaction patterns, and engagement metrics.

This role focuses on developing production-grade NLP/ML systems and data products. You'll engineer scalable solutions for intent classification, sentiment analysis, and other text analytics. This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll design, implement, and deploy ML systems at scale.

What will you do?

Execute machine learning strategy and lead ML Ops implementationIdentify workload drivers and understand client experience through data analyticsDesign and develop advanced data products using state-of-the-art NLP/ML methodologiesExplore, train, fine-tune, and evaluate machine learning modelsSupport daily operations by applying NLP/ML expertise to business projects and inquiriesEnsure model performance, compliance, and risk reduction across all solutionsResearch latest NLP/ML trends and provide strategic recommendations for business use cases

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

Strong NLP/ML engineering experience: 3+ years building and deploying NLP/ML systems in production environments (not just research or prototypes)Large Language Model expertise: Hands-on experience with LLMs, prompt engineering, API integration, optimizationPython proficiency: Expert-level Python for data manipulation, ML development, and production codeData skills: Expertise in analyzing and manipulating large datasets with Python and SQLNLP toolkit:  Proficiency with spaCy, NLTK, Hugging Face Transformers, or similar NLP librariesML fundamentals: Strong understanding of text classification, feature engineering, model evaluationEducation: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related field

Nice to have:

Master of Data Science or equivalentFamiliarity with data lake and cloud environments
