The Cell Therapy Grant Writer leads the development, writing, and submission of competitive NIH grant applications supporting translational and preclinical research in cell and gene therapy. The role collaborates closely with the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) and R&D scientists to translate complex scientific concepts into clear, compelling, and compliant proposals.
ResponsibilitiesIdentify funding opportunities related to cell therapy.Interpret NIH Funding Opportunity Announcements and align proposals accordingly.Lead the development of NIH grant components such as Specific Aims, Research Strategy, Significance, Innovation, Approach, and Impact.Collaborate with scientific leaders to understand underlying research and craft persuasive scientific narratives.Manage grant timelines, logistics, and ensure compliance with NIH and institutional requirements.Prepare and coordinate biosketches, budget justifications, facilities/resources, and other documents.Edit and refine proposal drafts for clarity and reviewer expectations.Track submissions, outcomes, and maintain grant documentation.Stay current on NIH review criteria, funding trends, and the cell/gene therapy landscape.Assist with SOP writing and support R&D with scientific manuscripts and presentations.Essential SkillsMinimum 4 years of experience with NIH grants and a strong record of successful submissions.Background in academic research, healthcare, biotech, or life sciences.Experience writing scientific publications.Understanding of human subjects, animal research, and regulatory documentation.Deep familiarity with NIH systems (ASSIST, eRA Commons, Grants.gov).Exceptional scientific writing, editing, organization, and multitasking skills.Strong communication and collaboration abilities.Ability to manage high-pressure situations and shifting priorities.Flexibility to work extended hours when needed and travel for industry conferences.5+ years writing government grants (required).Additional Skills & QualificationsTechnical writing, NIH, Cell Therapy, Clinical trial, Medical writing, Project management, Vendor management, Clinical research.Work EnvironmentThe work environment is a combination of office and laboratory settings, requiring flexibility to work extended hours when necessary.

Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $38.46 - $38.46/hr.
