Job Title: NGS Laboratory Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a self-motivated NGS Laboratory Specialist with hands-on experience in NGS-library preparation and sequencing, preferably on industry-leading platforms such as Illumina. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in molecular/cell biology and genetics, with the ability to design and execute experiments using molecular technologies. Candidates with developed skills in protocol development and troubleshooting are preferred.

Responsibilities

Interact with team members, Senior Manager, and Project Managers.Execute Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) tasks.Apply foundational molecular biology skills, including DNA/RNA extraction, RT-PCR, PCR, and microarray analysis.Support team leads and junior technicians in timely project execution.Implement quality control processes across various operations.Maintain associated instruments, ensuring they are in good working order, and manage supplies and consumables.Maintain laboratory records according to company guidelines.Collaborate effectively in a team environment.Demonstrate proven problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.Manage time and projects effectively.

Essential Skills

Bachelor's degree in Biology, Biochemistry, or Molecular Biology.At least 1 year of post-graduation industry experience in molecular biology.Proficiency in lab skills such as pipetting, PCR, and Next Gen Sequencing.Experience operating electrical and non-electrical laboratory equipment.Working knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel, and database management.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Experience with biosafety cabinets and laboratory troubleshooting.Experience in molecular techniques such as qPCR, sequencing, and analyzing sequencing data.Experience in cell culture, particularly with human iPSC cells.

Work Environment

The position involves working in a laboratory environment focused on biobanking, bioprocessing, and analytics since 1999. Candidates will handle incoming samples of DNA, blood, stool, urine, etc. Shifts are available in IBX tracker. This role contributes to a pioneering organization, the first to be FDA-approved for saliva testing, providing critical support during the health crisis.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Piscataway, NJ.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr.
