Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an Operations Lead (Manager 3) to join the Innovation Engineering (NGINE) leadership team. The position could be located in Roy, UT, Huntsville, AL or fully remote. NGINE is a DS Sector Capability Center established to be the internal supplier of high-quality software to DS Sector programs.
The Operations Lead ensures strategy translates into execution by managing operational planning, budget, and governance rhythms. This individual will partner closely with engineering leadership, program management, finance, HR, and enterprise operations to remove friction, anticipate risk, and facilitate clarity at scale. This role is for a hands-on operator comfortable with fast-growing, cross organizational collaboration and growth. In this role you will ensure effective operations of the NGINE organization and seamless integration with sector operational processes. The Operations Lead reports to the Director of Innovation Engineering as a member of the leadership team for NGINE.
What you will get to do:
Operational Execution & Rhythm
Establish and run the operational cadence for NGINE (monthly business reviews, quarterly planning, portfolio syncs, executive readouts)Identify execution risks early and drive mitigation across stakeholders Coordinate and prioritizes work for the NGINE Core TeamFacilitates traditional organizational recurring and non-recurring events (e.g. PMR, CCB, ERB, etc.)Manage onboarding of new employees to the NGINE teamReporting and Data Analysis
Lead for reporting and data analysis inclusive of metrics, KPIs, OKRs and Sector Operating Objective (SOO) goalsEstablish and execute methodology to measure team execution against organizational prioritiesDefines interfaces and provide data to EMR/WLF/other DS Sector SystemsFinancial and Resource Management
Own budget planning, forecasting, and tracking in partnership with Finance and NGINE leadership teamManages Indirect and NCTA budgets, reporting, scope, and processesManage headcount planning, labor mix, and allocation across programs and initiatives, collaborate with Engineering Homeroom to ensure resource needs are metSupport investment trade-offs, growth planning, and cost optimizationPrepare financial and operational materials for leadership reviewsPortfolio and SAFe Alignment
Support portfolio-level coordination across programs, product lines, and engineering initiativesEnsure alignment between business and engineering execution prioritiesHelp translate strategic intent into executable and predictable roadmapsGovernance, Process & Compliance
Design and continuously improve lightweight, scalable processes that support predictability, speed, and complianceEnsure adherence to internal governance, reporting, and approval processesAct as the connective resource between NGINE and sector functions (HR, Finance, IT, Security, other)Leadership Support and Communications

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off.
You Will Bring These Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and 8+ years relevant experience OR a Master’s with 6+ years experience. Additional 4 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.3 years prior experience leading and managing the operations diverse program or organizational team3 years prior experience with financial management for programs, organizations, or teams.Familiarity with Agile processesAbility to obtain a DoD security clearanceThese Qualifications Are Nice To Have:
Certification in Agile processes (SAFe, etc.) as a practitioner or Release Train EngineerExperience managing indirect funds and/or investment planning processesExperience with managing KPIs or other performance objectivesExperience with the operations of a Service Organization or Business Operating UnitPrimary Level Salary Range: $137,800.00 - $228,500.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
