The ideal candidate will set and drive strategy for a broad set of technical initiatives and be empowered to make decisions that significantly impact annual operating plans (AOP), long-range strategic plan (LRSP) outcomes, and the Technology Roadmap.  The Northrop Grumman Fellow is expected to provide scientific, technical, intellectual leadership, as well as analytical support contributing to the advancement of growth goals.   The candidate must also have a strong grasp of campaign execution, networking strategy, and possess the skills, drive, and judgement to successfully interface with senior leaders/technologists across the company and customer community.   
   
Northrop Grumman Defense Systems Sector Strategic Deterrent Systems Division is seeking an NG Fellow 1 SDS Guidance, Navigation and Control (GN&C) who will play an instrumental role in developing, evolving, and leading technological strategy in this skill area for the broader organization. This position will be located in Roy, Utah

General responsibilities may include but are not limited to:    

The individual in this role will provide technical leadership and direction on Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GN&C) for the Sentinel ICBM as well as provide technical expertise and develop GN&C development and maturation strategy for SDS.

This position reports directly to the Office of the Chief Engineer. 

Leadership Skills: 

Strong stakeholder management skills, including presenting solutions to senior leadership. 

Experience in leading organizational change and ensuring successful adoption of new technologies and best practices. 

Experience mentoring junior engineers and fostering a culture of continuous improvement. 

Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams, including recruitment, performance management, and professional development. 

Ability to strategically allocate resources and manage budgets to optimize team performance and deliver value-driven results. 

Ability to influence and gain buy-in from key stakeholders, ensuring alignment and successful project delivery.

Technical Skills and Core Competencies: 

Experience in the development, test, and fielding of flight critical systems 

Experience in design and development of flight control algorithms/feedback control systems.

Experience in developing requirements and verification plans, and negotiations with customer and user communities.

Designs research and develop highly advanced new applications resulting in new product/business opportunities for the company.

Proficiency with development of architecture and requirements for a hard real-time system.

Experience and proficiency with Agile principles, processes and tools, Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE), DOORS requirements management, Cameo EA, and the like.

Proficiency with airworthiness certification criteria (e.g. MIL-HDBK-516C, RTCA DO-178C, DO-254) and nuclear surety standards/requirements (e.g. AFMAN 91-119).

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field and 20+ years of related experience; 18+ years of experience with a Masters;  15+ years of experience with a PhD.

Detailed understanding of Guidance, Navigation, and Control systems.

Able to lead a diverse team while cultivating a positive work environment.

Demonstrated performance to drive execution in support and alignment to leadership direction. 

Demonstrated experience leading the design, development, and validation of guidance, navigation, and control systems integrating flight critical hardware, software, and algorithms.

Demonstrated ability to apply and/or develop highly advanced technologies, scientific principles, theories and concepts towards successful program execution.  Exhibits an exceptional degree of ingenuity, creativity, and resourcefulness.

Able to communicate effectively at the highest levels. Viewed as expert in field within the corporation. 

Develops plans and recommends technical approach to accomplish program requirements. Work accomplished typically supports long-range strategic goals.

Serves as consultant to leadership team in program-wide planning concerning new or projected areas of technological research and advancements.

Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years and ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)

Ability to travel up to 25%.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace/Mechanical/Electrical Engineering, or a related field. 

Active Top-Secret Security Clearance .

Designs research and develop highly advanced new applications resulting in new product/business opportunities for the company.

Experience in the development, test, certification, and fielding of intercontinental ballistic missiles, launch vehicles, or other complex aerospace systems.

Proficiency with development of architectures and requirements for a hard real-time system.

Experience in design, development, and test of flight control algorithms/feedback control systems.

Expertise in developing full life cycle of software for a hard real-time system.

Proficiency in automatic code generation and certification.

Acts independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development, implementation, deployment, and support of guidance, navigation, and control systems.

Demonstrated success as a CAM in planning and delivering technical capability while managing cost and schedule.  Ability to perform cost and schedule analyses.

Primary Level Salary Range: $183,800.00 - $275,800.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
