As a Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining robust security measures to protect an organization’s systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. You will work closely with IT teams and other departments to ensure the organization’s security infrastructure meets the highest standards, safeguarding sensitive data and ensuring regulatory compliance. Your work will be an essential part of driving positive change in the network security space. This team makes a powerful impact on the organization’s security posture. **Responsibilities include:** A Firewall Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, managing, and maintaining CVS’ network security systems. The role focuses on ensuring the security, integrity, and availability of IT systems and data by configuring and managing firewall solutions to prevent unauthorized access and mitigate cyber threats. Design, configure, and deploy firewall solutions to support enterprise security policies. Develop and maintain access control lists (ACLs), rule sets, and security policies based on organizational needs. Perform regular updates and patches to firewalls to maintain a top security posture. Plan and implement network segmentation to isolate critical assets and reduce attack surfaces. Integrate firewalls with other security tools (e.g., IDS/IPS, VPNs, SIEM systems). Monitor firewall logs and alerts to identify suspicious activities and security threats. Investigate and resolve firewall-related incidents and provide root cause analysis. Support incident response teams by isolating affected systems and implementing containment measures. Ensure firewall configurations comply with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies (e.g., PCI DSS, HIPAA, NIST). Document firewall configurations, rule changes, and security incidents for audit purposes. Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity and performance issues related to firewall systems. Work closely with IT teams, application developers, and third-party vendors to ensure security requirements are met. Contribute to strategic planning for network security improvements. Ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and industry standards, such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI DSS. **Required Qualifications** · 7+ years’ experience in a network security engineering role · 7+ years’ experience designing, deploying and administering intrusion prevention systems, network access control systems, network detection & response systems and Palo Alto firewalls · 5+ years’ hands-on experience with the following solutions:(1)Web application firewalls such as, Akamai, Imperva, Cloudflare or Radware, (2) Intrusion Prevention Systems such as Cisco Firepower, Fortinet, or Palo Alto, (3) Network Detection & Response (NDR) systems such as Arista Awake NDR, Cisco Stealth Watch, FortiNDR, or Corelight (4) Network access control (NAC) systems such as Forescout, Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) or Fortinet FortiNAC **Preferred Qualifications** · Familiarity with scripting languages (Python, Ansible, Bash) · Strong analytical and critical thinking skills · Expert understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices · Expert communication skills · Ability to collaborate within a team environment as well as independently · An initiative-taking, self-starter attitude · The ability to find innovative solutions · Ability to troubleshoot effectively and work under pressure · Vision to automate repetitive tasks · Ability to muti-task efficiently · Keen attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of security. · Relevant certifications (CISSP, CEH, CCNA, CompTIA Security+, SANS GIAC, GPEN) **Education** Bachelor degree from accredited university or equivalent work experience (HS diploma + 4 years relevant experience) **BUSINESS OVERVIEW** Bring your heart to CVS Health Every one of us at CVS Health shares a single, clear purpose: Bringing our heart to every moment of your health. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
