**Description** SAIC is looking for a talented **Network Engineer Principal** to provide communications and networking systems engineering support to the Automated Digital Networking System (ADNS) program, based **ONSITE** in **Norfolk, VA** . The successful candidate will design, analyze, plan, modify, and maintain networks and network components supporting data, voice, and/or audio communication activities. You will also provide communications systems engineering support for various U/VHF radio communications systems, Common Data Link (CDL) systems, and commercial/government satellite communications systems and networks. **JOB DUTIES:** + Perform system hardware/software installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair activities following established policies and procedures. + Ensure the system is operational and available within specified customer timeframes. + Configure systems according to the Program’s Configuration and Data Management Plans. + Prepare analyses of short/long-term capacity needs for switching, routing transmission, and signaling. + Conduct network architecture design, feasibility, and cost studies, and perform internal studies of network performance and traffic. + Evaluate new technology for potential implementation. + Provide detailed specifications and schematics for network architecture, including hardware/software selection, to meet business needs for current and future capacity requirements. + Conduct testing of network systems to ensure optimal performance. + Maintain technical expertise in networking and computer hardware/software interconnection and interfacing (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways). + Evaluate and report on new network technologies to enhance network capabilities. **Qualifications** **REQUIREMENTS:** + Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field, with nine (9) years of experience in Configuration Management and Network Administration in a Department of Defense (DoD) setting. Years of experience in lieu of degree will be taken into consideration. + Must be a U.S. Citizen. + Must have a TS/SCI clearance to start. + Security+ Certification (other higher level security certifications acceptable). + Ability to obtain relevant OS/CE certification for Cybersecurity Workforce (CSWF) compliance (e.g., CCNA, Linux+) within 6 months of hire. **DESIRED SKILLS:** + Hands-on experience with operating systems and network hardware related to ADNS and its supporting systems. + Excellent communication skills. + Experience with Tactical Data Links, Military Communications, DoD Networks, Global Information Grid (GIG), Common Data Link (CDL), Link 16, and Joint Tactical Radio System (JTRS). + Windows and Linux system administration skills. + Expertise in network routing & switching systems (e.g., switches, routers). + Experience with TACLANES and other Communications Security (COMSEC) devices. + Experience with Triton unmanned vehicle program. + Knowledge in network defense systems (e.g., firewalls, IDS, IPS). + Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or equivalent level of Cisco certification. + Experience with Linux Red Hat versions 5, 6, 7, and 8. + Experience in a VMware environment. + Ability to exercise independent judgment within broadly defined practices and policies of military data communications.
