The MITRE Space Intelligence Systems Department is looking for a Network Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) who wants to drive innovative solutions, thought leadership, and evidence-based recommendations so the Intelligence Community (IC) can deliver the benefits and services our Mission Partners depend on to make a positive impact in the world.
Roles & Responsibilities:
MITRE’s Space Intelligence Systems is looking for a Principal Network Engineer role that will be supporting multiple classified infrastructures as well as standalone environments. This role will require knowledge of implementing and maintaining NIST 800-53 Security Controls / RMF compliance in each environment along with additional security lockdowns if required and ensure the accreditation is enforced and in compliance in all environments. Provide technical evaluations for hardware/software acquisitions and architectureWork with various sponsor organizations, FFRDCs, and contractors to ensure long-term network architecture meets projected needsThe successful candidate will, in addition to providing top level technical support and vision, provide subject matter expertise across several government officesBasic Qualifications:
8+ years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience.Active TS/SCI with CI PolyExperience integrating emerging cybersecurity capabilities, hardware and software, into large network architecturesExperience working with multiple government agencies, FFRDCs, and contractorsExperience with STIGs and system hardening through Group Policy and/or automationFamiliarity with scripting and automation tools, including batch scripts, PowerShell, automation with PDQ Inventory/Deploy, Ansible, Chef, or other similar toolsFamiliarity with architecting diverse services of environmentsAbility to develop effective technical and support documentation to include design & test plans, implementation plans, and automation plans using standard templates (where existing) or proposing & creating new templates where neededAbility to review operational metrics and make analytic decisions/recommendations about operational infrastructure performanceAbility to deploy all hardware/software configurations following established standards in an automated and auditable method.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skillsStrong written and verbal communications skillsThis position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.Preferred Qualifications:
