Job Description The MITRE Space Intelligence Systems Department is looking for a Network Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) who wants to drive innovative solutions, thought leadership, and evidence-based recommendations so the Intelligence Community (IC) can deliver the benefits and services our Mission Partners depend on to make a positive impact in the world. Roles & Responsibilities: + MITRE’s Space Intelligence Systems is looking for a Principal Network Engineer role that will be supporting multiple classified infrastructures as well as standalone environments. + This role will require knowledge of implementing and maintaining NIST 800-53 Security Controls / RMF compliance in each environment along with additional security lockdowns if required and ensure the accreditation is enforced and in compliance in all environments. + Provide technical evaluations for hardware/software acquisitions and architecture + Work with various sponsor organizations, FFRDCs, and contractors to ensure long-term network architecture meets projected needs + The successful candidate will, in addition to providing top level technical support and vision, provide subject matter expertise across several government offices Basic Qualifications: + 8+ years of related experience with a bachelor’s degree; or 6 years and a master’s degree; or a PhD with 3 years’ experience; or equivalent combination of related education and work experience. + Active TS/SCI with CI Poly + Experience integrating emerging cybersecurity capabilities, hardware and software, into large network architectures + Experience working with multiple government agencies, FFRDCs, and contractors + Experience with STIGs and system hardening through Group Policy and/or automation + Familiarity with scripting and automation tools, including batch scripts, PowerShell, automation with PDQ Inventory/Deploy, Ansible, Chef, or other similar tools + Familiarity with architecting diverse services of environments + Ability to develop effective technical and support documentation to include design & test plans, implementation plans, and automation plans using standard templates (where existing) or proposing & creating new templates where needed + Ability to review operational metrics and make analytic decisions/recommendations about operational infrastructure performance + Ability to deploy all hardware/software configurations following established standards in an automated and auditable method. + Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills + Strong written and verbal communications skills + This position has an on-site requirement of 5 days a week on-site.
