Overview:

We are looking for a Network Engineer to support and maintain our enterprise switching, security, and wireless infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have experience with Cisco switches, VLANs, Cisco ISE, Cisco DNA Center, Palo Alto firewalls, and Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs). This role is ideal for someone looking to expand their technical skills in a hands-on networking environment, supporting a mix of project work and daily operations.

Responsibilities:

Switching & Network Infrastructure:

Assist with the deployment, configuration, and management of Cisco switches (Catalyst 9200/9300/9500).Support VLAN configurations, trunking, spanning-tree protocols (RSTP/MSTP), and EtherChannel setups.Perform basic switch upgrades and patching to ensure network security and stability.Help troubleshoot network connectivity issues, including port security and inter-VLAN routing problems.

Network Security & Firewall Support:

Assist in managing Cisco ISE for network authentication, 802.1X access control, and device profiling.Monitor and provide basic troubleshooting support for Palo Alto firewalls, including reviewing logs and assisting in policy updates.Follow security best practices to ensure network compliance and access control measures.

Wireless Network & Patch Panel Management:

Support the setup, configuration, and maintenance of Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs) and Cisco Access Points (APs).Assist in troubleshooting Wi-Fi connectivity issues, coverage gaps, and signal performance.Help with the installation and organization of patch panels, structured cabling, and network racks.

Monitoring & Troubleshooting:

Utilize network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, or NetFlow) to monitor bandwidth usage and network performance.Perform basic packet analysis using Wireshark to identify and resolve network latency or packet loss issues.Work with the senior engineering team to identify potential network vulnerabilities and assist in patching efforts.

Operations & Documentation:

Maintain and update network documentation, including IP address allocations, switch configurations, and firewall policies.Assist with ticket resolution for network-related incidents and changes, collaborating with helpdesk teams as needed.Participate in change management processes and follow standard operating procedures for network upgrades and modifications.

Qualifications & Required Skills:

Technical Knowledge:

2-5 years of experience in networking, with hands-on exposure to switching, network security, and wireless management.Experience with Cisco switches (Catalyst 9200, 9300, 9500 series) and VLAN configurations.Understanding of switching protocols (VTP, Spanning Tree, HSRP/VRRP, EtherChannel).Some exposure to Cisco ISE for user authentication and access control.Familiarity with wireless networking, including Wireless LAN Controllers (WLCs) and Access Points (APs).Basic experience with firewalls (Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, or similar) and security policies.Working knowledge of network monitoring tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, NetFlow, Wireshark).

Soft Skills:

Strong troubleshooting skills with a proactive approach to resolving network issues.Ability to follow standard procedures and document changes clearly.Strong communication skills for working with teams, end users, and leadership.A willingness to learn and grow in a dynamic networking environment.

Education & Certifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Networking, or a related field (or equivalent experience).CCNA certification is preferred and CCNP highly desired  Any experience with Cisco DNA Center, Cisco ISE, or Palo Alto firewalls is a plus.
