Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Missile Defense Integration offers an excellent opportunity for a Principal Engineer Network III (26-055 & 26-056) to join our talented and diverse team. Based in Colorado Springs, CO, this role is essential to supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at the strategic, regional, and operational levels.
This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Position Overview:
The Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program is a key component of the Missile Defense System. It is a vital operational system that enables the U.S. president, the secretary of defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels to plan ballistic missile defense operations, monitor the battle, and dynamically control networked sensors and weapon systems to achieve global and regional mission goals. C2BMC supports layered missile defense capabilities that enable an optimized response to threats across all ranges and flight phases. It serves as a force multiplier by networking, integrating, and synchronizing autonomous sensor and weapon systems and operations globally and regionally to improve performance. C2BMC is essential for all ground and flight tests that verify and demonstrate the current and future capabilities of missile defense systems.
This role involves acting as a Network Development Engineer, assisting with buildouts and deployments to the operational environment as required. The candidate will collaborate within an agile Scrum team, planning work based on customer needs and contractual commitments. They will serve as a primary Network Engineer for the C2BMC Program, responsible for planning, deploying, integrating, and testing network upgrades at operational sites. Additionally, the candidate must travel to remote locations to lead network installations, troubleshoot issues independently, and provide regular updates to Program personnel.
Essential Functions:
Must be an experienced network engineer with practical mid-level skills and understanding of network design, development, and testing methods
The position is based at an LM facility in Colorado Springs, CO. In the long term, however, this role must be able to travel to alternate work locations, such as Schriever Space Force Base, Alaska, Guam, and Europe, to execute job duties, including deployments
Basic Qualifications:

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Information Technology, Network Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field from an accredited university, along with 5 years of experience; or a Master’s degree in a related field with 3 years of relevant work experience; or 9 years of relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative to a degree
Applicants must have a current, active DoD 8140 certification at IAT Level II or higher (such as Security+ CE, GSEC, SCNP, SSCP, CISSP, CISA, GSE, SCNA, etc.) at the time of application, which is required to start. The candidate is responsible for maintaining their DoD 8140 certification throughout the entire contract period
Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
Willingness to travel 10% of the time for business needs
This position requires a CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) or JNCIA (Juniper Networks Certified Associate) certification
Must understand the OSI Model, TCP/IP, and routing protocols BGP and OSPF
Must have network traffic analysis, diagnostics, and troubleshooting skills
Must have firewall experience, especially with Juniper, Fortinet, and Palo Alto
Must have experience with UDP multicast, SONET, MSPP, VLANs, GRE tunnels, and TCP/IP network design
Must have hands-on experience with multi-vendor switching and routing (Juniper, Cisco), WAN optimizers, TACLANEs, and optical transport equipment
Must be an effective communicator with excellent writing and presentation skills, proficient in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Visio
Must thrive and do your best in a collaborative, Agile environment
Must understand standard DoD security practices, such as STIG compliance and system accreditation implementation efforts
Preferred Qualifications:
Familiarity with virtualization technologies – NFV, SDWAN, VMware, VMware Cloud Foundation, NSX, vSAN, and Aria is desired
Experience with network automation using Ansible is preferred
Prior C2BMC experience is preferred

Primary Level Salary Range: $94,200.00 - $141,200.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
