Scripps Fox affiliate in Lansing, Michigan, is seeking a passionate Multimedia Journalist who will bring the stories of our community to life across multiple platforms. WHAT YOU'LL DO:Receive assignments or evaluate news leads and tips to develop compelling story ideas
Gather and verify factual information through interviews, observation, and research
Organize material and write according to editorial style and format standards
Shoot video and still photos to illustrate your stories
Edit or assist in editing videos for all multimedia platforms
Appear on television when conducting taped interviews or narration
Deliver live reports from the scene of events or from our mobile broadcast unit
Work collaboratively with photographers when assigned to stories
Assist news producers in preparing newscasts
Support online staff in preparing multimedia stories
WHAT YOU'LL NEED:BS/BA in related discipline or equivalent years of experience preferred
Generally, 3+ years of experience in related field preferred
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
Valid driver's license, good driving record, and ability to provide proof of insurance with the company required insurance limits
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:Computer literacy, including newsroom computer systems
Videography and non-linear editing experience preferred
Knowledge of broadcast quality camera equipment
Ability to edit video on Final Cut Pro editing systems or similar equipment
Strong broadcast and AP style writing skills
Proficiency at posting content to various websites
Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
