Essential Responsibilities:

Interpret job order tickets and locate underground utilities accuratelyRead and interpret blueprints, maps, and construction drawingsPlans travel routes between urban and rural areasOperate testing and locating equipment to pinpoint underground utilitiesMonitors equipment (excavators etc.) to ensure facilities are not damagedCreates drawings using VisioWork independently while maintaining accuracy, productivity, and safety standardsMeet project timelines in a fast-paced, field-based environmentPerform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum 5 years of experience locating underground utilities across multiple utility typesExperience working with telecommunications, hydro, gas, water, and other utility infrastructureCompletion of the ORCGA Damage Prevention Technician (DPT) certificationStrong ability to work independently with minimal supervisionHighly organized, self-motivated, and able to prioritize workload effectivelyStrong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and safetyTeam player with both excellent communication skills both written and verbalComputer-savvy; comfortable using multiple applications and digital toolsValid Full G driver’s license with a clean driver’s abstractAbility to maintain company vehicle, test equipment, and tools in excellent condition

Work Conditions:

Company van and major tools providedTravel required, including occasional overnight and out-of-town assignments or trainingPreference given to local candidatesWork environments include residential, commercial, industrial, and rural areas, across varying terrain (grass, gravel, ditches, construction zones, etc.)Ability to meet physical demands of the role, including sitting, standing, bending, and working outdoors in all weather conditionsMonday to Friday, with occasional Saturdays as required

Compensation

$26.44 - $40.54 per hour

This is the applicable wage range for this position. Individuals will be assigned a base wage within this range based on trade certification and/or apprenticeship level, industry experience, and work location.

Remote, site-based positions may be eligible for additional incentives including but not limited to travel and accommodation allowances.
