Astrion is seeking a versatile and mission-focused Multi-Domain Systems Administrator to support the Air Force Research Laboratory’s (AFRL) Research & Development Integrated Space Experiments (RISE) contract at Kirtland AFB, NM.
In this role, you will deliver end-to-end system, cloud, cyber, and network administration across secure DoD environments. This position supports day-to-day mission operations, user enablement, cloud configuration, infrastructure sustainment, and system troubleshooting for multiple AFRL program environments.
Required Qualifications
Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility (required at start). Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Systems Administration, or a related technical field. DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level II or III certification (e.g., Security+, CySA+, CCNA Security, CASP+, or CISSP) 5+ years of experience as a Systems Administrator, Cloud Administrator, Network Administrator, or similar role supporting DoD or mission-critical systems. Hands-on administration experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) including user management, patching, service configuration, and security hardening. Experience with AWS WorkSpaces administration, Active Directory/Cloud DC, IAM, and identity lifecycle management. Working knowledge of networking fundamentals, access control lists (ACLs), DNS, DHCP, routing, and troubleshooting connectivity issues. Experience with cyber hygiene requirements such as MFA enforcement, PKI/certificate compliance, password policies, and cybersecurity training validation. Strong communication skills with the ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary engineering, cyber, and program management groups.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting AFRL, USSF, or other DoD programs. Experience with AWS Directory Services or hybrid cloud/On-Prem + AWS environments. Familiarity with eMASS for updating certificates, commenting on findings, or assisting with user-level RMF tasks. Experience managing Atlassian tools such as Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket. Working knowledge of STIG/SRG-based hardening for Windows and RHEL systems. Basic scripting or automation skills (PowerShell, Bash, Python). Familiarity with log monitoring platforms (e.g., Splunk, ELK, Graylog).
Responsibilities
Administer accounts, onboarding/offboarding, MFA, PKI/CAC, and certificate updates across multiple secure environments. Provision, configure, and maintain AWS Workspaces, AWS Directory Service, and cloud-integrated identity services. Perform Windows and RHEL Linux system administration, including patching, service configuration, troubleshooting, and baseline security hardening. Manage Active Directory (Cloud DC) objects and enforce least-privilege IAM policies. Troubleshoot system, network, and cloud-access issues for on-prem and AWS environments. Support network tasks including ACL updates, firewall coordination, static IP assignments, and general connectivity troubleshooting. Maintain IT infrastructure equipment such as UPS systems, network devices, and firewall configuration backups. Follow configuration management and change-control processes for system updates and infrastructure modifications. Maintain documentation (access lists, configurations, system inventories) and collaborate with engineering, cyber, and PM teams to ensure operational readiness.CJ
