The Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician is responsible for the setup, start-up, adjustment, operation, proper shutdown, and changeover of equipment to minimize downtime and meet operational standards. This role involves managing supplies, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems, and ensuring preventive maintenance to prevent equipment breakdowns.
ResponsibilitiesSetup, start-up, adjust, and operate equipment following proper shutdown and changeover procedures to minimize downtime.Manage and account for supplies associated with production lines, addressing excessive loss.Troubleshoot electrical equipment and maintain electrical control systems to prevent breakdowns.Troubleshoot mechanical equipment and maintain mechanical systems to prevent breakdowns.Perform line changeover as required by the production schedule.Lead predictive maintenance initiatives for focused departments.Enhance existing equipment to improve line effectiveness.Develop and enhance preventive maintenance and troubleshooting guides.Coordinate maintenance efforts with mechanics, technicians, and line personnel across shifts.Utilize the EAM system to document activities and enter time daily.Assist in developing spare parts requirements and maintaining min/max levels.Develop and maintain good working relationships with engineering, maintenance, supervisors, team leaders, and line operators.Identify operator skill gaps and provide solutions.Support plant high performance culture and continuous improvement programs.Comply with safety and environmental policies and actively participate in related programs.Perform area housekeeping duties.Recommend and implement continuous improvement on equipment and system design.Communicate with line technicians on other shifts to coordinate maintenance efforts.Conduct training for other associates in the area of responsibility.Manage spare parts and standby equipment for assigned equipment.Adhere to company policies and procedures including GMPs, Lock Out/Tag Out, HACCP check points, and OSHA regulations.Report and correct unsafe acts and conditions.Determine product sequencing to minimize changeover time.Perform sanitation and reassembly to meet standards and minimize downtime.
Essential SkillsElectrical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills.Mechanical troubleshooting and preventive maintenance skills.PLC troubleshooting skills.Knowledge of FDA regulations.Ability to maintain and operate all equipment in assigned areas.
Additional Skills & QualificationsMust be Powered Industrial Truck licensed and follow safety rules and procedures.Willingness to travel as required.Background in industrial, mechanical, electrical, and computer systems.Knowledge of special technical skills including VFD drives, pneumatic troubleshooting, basic PLC understanding, mechanical troubleshooting, machining, welding tasks, and gas trane.Ability to communicate technical information to improve plant technicians' skills.Working knowledge of electrical installation and construction.High School Diploma or GED.Minimum of three years of experience in industrial maintenance.
