Multi-Craft Maintenance Technician

Job Description

In this position you will play a vital role in maintaining and repairing various industrial machinery and equipment including hydraulic systems, gearboxes, conveyor equipment, vibrating feeders, hammer mills, cranes, and mechanical drives. You will utilize hand tools, measuring devices, and power tools such as drill presses, saws, grinders, and pipe cutting equipment. Your responsibilities will also involve welding, burning, and metal joining tasks, alongside operating cranes and mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot & repair (electrical): 480V 3‑phase, motors, VFDs/soft starts, sensors, photo eyes, relays, control circuits, basic PLC I/O and fault tracing (Allen‑Bradley preferred).Troubleshoot & repair (mechanical): Conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, chains/sprockets, pumps, seals, hydraulics/pneumatics; light fabrication (welding, torch, drill press) where permitted.Preventive/Predictive maintenance: Execute PMs, document findings, recommend follow‑ups; support PdM (vibration, IR, ultrasound) if in place.Root cause & continuous improvement: Identify recurring issues, collaborate with production engineering, and implement corrective actions to boost MTBF and OEE.Safety & compliance: Strictly follow LOTO, arc‑flash/NFPA 70E practices, machine guarding, and facility procedures; escalate hazards immediately.Documentation: Use CMMS to log work orders, parts usage, and downtime codes; update prints/as‑built notes as needed.Collaboration: Partner with operators and shift leadership to plan repairs around production; mentor junior techs when applicable.

Preferred Skills:

3-5 years in industrial maintenance (multi‑craft), preferably in high‑speed manufacturing, distribution, or process environments.Read schematics; safely use multimeters/megohm testers; diagnose 24VDC–480VAC circuits; replace/align motors, encoders, and sensors.Precision alignment, belt/chain drives, pneumatic valves/actuators, hydraulic power units, lubrication best practices.CMMS proficiency; comfortable with laptops/HMIs; basic PLC exposure (fault codes, force/monitor I/O).LOTO, energized work boundaries, and risk assessments baked into your routine.Allen‑Bradley PLC/HMI experience, VFD parameterization, MIG/TIG or stick welding, forklift/aerial lift certification, familiar with 5S/TPM.Education/Certs: HS diploma or GED required; technical diploma, apprenticeship, or journeyman credential preferred.Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Orangeburg, SC.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $70000.00 - $81494.00/yr.

-\t9.58% shift differential once they move onto swing shift (Approximately an extra 3/hr)\n- They can test every 6 months to test into higher tech level and get pay increase\n-\t Only non-union smelter facility in the U.S\n-\t401K matches 6%.
