To strengthen our Medical Team within the Rare & Epilepsy department we are looking for a talented profile to fill the two position of: MSL Rare Center of Italy – Milan, Italy.

 

About the roles

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) engages in peer-level scientific exchange with clinicians and researchers in neuromuscular and autoimmune diseases at UCB. They build trusted, science-driven relationships to deepen understanding of conditions like myasthenia gravis, support the development of new therapies and co-create value for patients.

The MSL develops a deep understanding of ecosystem needs, crucial for the further development of tatctis to be implemented in our strategic activities, acts as the key customer-facing contact, connects external stakeholders with internal UCB capabilities, and drives tailored, purpose‑fit solutions

 

You will work with

In this role, you will work closely with clinicians, researchers, and ecosystem partners involved in neuromuscular and autoimmune diseases, fostering collaborative, science‑driven relationships. Internally, you will partner with cross‑functional UCB teams, particularly Clinical Development Solutions to support investigation sites and ensure seamless interactions with experts and principal investigators. The MSL reports to the Medical Strategy Lead & Field Medical Lead Italy.

 

What you will do

Play a crucial role in the development of the rare disease MSL organization with focus on rare neurologic diseases starting with Myasthenia GravisFurther develop and refine your scientific expertise and skillset through regular interaction with external and internal thought leadersManage and execute stakeholder engagement within a local region based on training, expertise, and individualized approaches to identifying local needs and opportunitiesEngage regularly with:, key opinion leaders and their teamsInvestigator at clinical trial sites and patient advocacy organizations withthe common goal of seeking to improve the lives of patients with rare diseasesClose connectivity and teamwork with Regional Rare Disease Lead (field) as well as close connectivity and teamwork with Market Access (field), to clearly identify the needs and insights from the field working in a shared Costumer Table fashion.Support as needed the Clinical Development Solutions teams to identify  investigational centers and create value in external stakeholders (experts and PIs) interactionsIdentify local networksIdentify registries s and PAs with potential to collaborate in our Costumer Table Set awareness on Rare Disease Neurology Indications (starting with MG) and opportunitiesFull territory mapping including identification of centers of excellence, KOLs and relevant stakeholders including Patient Groups/Associations and Scientific  Societies to include relevant stakeholdersIdentifying and cultivating potential clinical trial partners and working with existing trial sites to ensure recruitment, participation and reporting objectives are met and are compliant with UCB standards of practice.

 

Interested? For this position you’ll need the following education, experience and skills

Bachelor’s, master’s degree or an education in a relevant scientific disciplineAt least 3 years’ experience as Medical Science Liaison experience preferably in rare diseaseFluent English communication (oral and written)Working experience in Rare, neuromuscular and/or autoimmune diseases preferred Proactive, solution‑oriented mindset with a high degree of autonomous, self‑starting problem‑solving capability, yet with a strong ability to work in team, both medical and cross functionalDemonstrated strength in execution of medical plansEffective communication, presentation and engagement skills including capacity to effectively communicate complex scientific concepts in both individual and group environmentsCapable of working across multiple roles and collaborating effectively with various stakeholders, internal and external.Demonstrated digital literacy with the ability to effectively use modern tools and platformsProven experience engaging with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to support scientific or strategic objectivesWillingness to travel regularly based on business needsStrong desire and ability to be proactive, identify areas of opportunity, and consistently execute Experience of partnership local TAE and  Global and external organizationsStrong understanding of medical governance principles and demonstrated compliance expertise
