Job Title: MRO BuyerJob Description The MRO Buyer is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and managing Maintenance, Repair, and Operations (MRO) materials and services to support the maintenance department and broader manufacturing operations. This role ensures the timely availability of parts, equipment, supplies, and contracted services while maintaining cost-effectiveness, supplier quality, and inventory accuracy. Responsibilities + Purchase MRO items—including equipment, spare parts, fasteners, tools, electronics, and various maintenance supplies—for the maintenance department. + Research, evaluate, and select suppliers based on price, quality, reliability, and delivery performance. + Negotiate pricing, contracts, service agreements, and payment terms to optimize cost savings. + Prepare and process purchase orders, invoices, and related documentation. + Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships to ensure high-quality service and product availability. + Identify new supplier opportunities and manage vendor onboarding. + Coordinate with suppliers and internal teams to schedule repairs, maintenance services, and utility hookups when needed. + Ensure purchased materials meet specifications and support maintenance schedules. + Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, production, and other cross-functional teams to support operational needs. + Monitor inventory levels for critical MRO items and adjust purchasing volumes to maintain optimal stock levels. + Use purchasing or ERP software to streamline procurement workflows and track purchase activity. + Recommend and implement cost reduction strategies through supplier consolidation, improved sourcing, and technology adoption. + Assist in evaluating product designs, equipment needs, or process changes that improve efficiency or reduce operational costs. Essential Skills + Experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or materials management—preferably in a manufacturing or maintenance environment. + Strong knowledge of MRO categories (maintenance supplies, equipment, spare parts, facilities services). + Proficiency with ERP or purchasing systems and related documentation workflows. + Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Must be comfortable buying for a whole facility. + Must be an organized individual. + Must be comfortable being on the floor & working with maintenance. + Experience with IQMS, purchase orders, and cycle counts. + Buying experience is advantageous. Work Environment Work hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM with an hour lunch break. The current employee is retiring in June, and you will be trained by her until then. After June, you will be working pretty independently. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pleasant Prairie, WI. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
