MR Engineering Summer Intern
Job Description SummaryAs an MR Engineering Summer Intern at GE Precision Healthcare, you will support the development and application of AI‑based algorithms and software tools that improve MR engineering efficiency, or participate in the areas of system component reliability analysis and testing, to strengthen the reliability for next‑generation MR New Product Introductions (NPIs).
These internship is designed for students who want hands‑on experience applying programming, data analysis, and basic mechanical, electrical design concepts in a real-world medical imaging R&D environment. You will work closely with MR engineers to help analyze system data, automate engineering workflows, instrument reliability test and support other related engineering activities.

Job Description

Job Responsibilities:

Assist in developing and evaluating AI/ML and data‑driven algorithms to improve MR engineering efficiency, such as automated data analysis, pattern detection, and performance trending.Support MR system testing and validation by analyzing test data, identifying anomalies, and helping improve test coverage and efficiency.Support mechanical and electrical component reliability testing for MR systemsDocument test procedures, observations, and results to support design improvements and NPI reliability readiness.Participate in MR system bring‑up, verification testing, and performance benchmarking activities under the guidance of experienced engineers.Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including MR hardware, software, and physics engineers, to understand system behavior and engineering challenges.Document work clearly and present results, insights, and progress to mentors and team members.


Job Qualifications:

Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or a related field with relevant coursework and demonstrated academic engagementAvailable for a minimum of 12 weeks during Summer 2026Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or C++Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical aptitudeAbility to work independently and as part of a teamEffective written and verbal communication skillsPrior research experience or coursework in MRI is a plus
