Motor Vehicle Mechanic - II (Tire Specialist)
Overview **This position will be physically located in Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP** **This Job Posting only applies to RMI Citizens and must be authorized to work in the RMI to be considered for this Job** Under the supervision of the TMP Maintenance Supervisor, performs the full range of field-level overhaul and end-item repair work on chassis group units of one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, diesel, or multi-fuel. Assists subordinate motor vehicle mechanics. Performs the full range of field-level overhaul and repair work on chassis group units of one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, gasoline, or multi-fuel. Types include those in commercial, industrial, or tactical use such as passenger cars, trucks, forklift trucks and warehouse tractors, jeeps, multi-wheel drive vehicles with automatic transmissions and auxiliary equipment. Determines exact nature and extent of repairs required and performs major and minor overhaul and repair on engines, power transmissions, suspension, steering, and braking operational systems and related electrical, fuel, hydraulic, wheel, and engine assemblies. Makes operational checks and adjustments as required. Uses specialized testing equipment, such as compression testers, motor analyzers, and test benches. Assists in directing work of junior and helper mechanics as required. Reviews work in progress and upon completion for conformance to standards. Maintains EHS and Key Control records. Responsibilities This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company. + Adhere to maintenance program production schedules and ensures all mission are executed on time and at the highest quality possible. + Ensures project goals are met and standards are maintained + Follows staffing requirements and technical approach for task orders solicitation + Performs the execution of the current vehicle services and maximum utilization of equipment usage. Annotates miles/kilometers and hours used for each piece of equipment. + Ensure that the responsibility, authorities, and accountability of all direct subordinates are defined and understood. + Adheres to and enforces the key control program + Adhering to prioritization of shop work and appropriate teamwork + Communicates performance and issues that may arise with service. + Assist in maintaining a safe workplace program, ensuring safety is the highest priority. + Communicates professionally, both orally and written. + Interacts professionally with the customer and other agencies. + Performs other duties as required. Qualifications + Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required. + A valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License + Minimum of four (4) years of experience in vehicle maintenance at the worker, helper, or apprentice level. + Two (2) years of mounting/ demounting tires + Skills: + Computer, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills required. + Requires excellent organizational skills; with the ability to work under fast paced and adverse conditions. + Working Conditions: + Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. + Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months). + Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well. + The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about ambient noise level. + The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals + Physical Requirements: + Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. + Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents. + Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices. + Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
