Motor Vehicle Mechanic II (Maintenance)
Overview

**This position will be physically located in Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP**

 

Under the supervision of the TMP Maintenance Supervisor, performs the full range of field-level overhaul and end-item repair work on chassis group units of one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, diesel, or multi-fuel. Assists subordinate motor vehicle mechanics. Performs the full range of field-level overhaul and repair work on chassis group units of one or more types of vehicles powered by internal combustion engines, gasoline, or multi-fuel. Types include those in commercial, industrial, or tactical use such as passenger cars, trucks, forklift trucks and warehouse tractors, jeeps, multi-wheel drive vehicles with automatic transmissions and auxiliary equipment. Determines exact nature and extent of repairs required and performs major and minor overhaul and repair on engines, power transmissions, suspension, steering, and braking operational systems and related electrical, fuel, hydraulic, wheel, and engine assemblies. Makes operational checks and adjustments as required. Uses specialized testing equipment, such as compression testers, motor analyzers, and test benches. Assists in directing work of junior and helper mechanics as required. Reviews work in progress and upon completion for conformance to standards. Maintains EHS and Key Control records.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is requiredHigh School Diploma or Equivalent required.Trades/vocational school or equivalent. preferredA valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a U. S. Government Motor Vehicle Operator’s License and host nation Driver’s License, is required.Experience:Minimum of two (2) years of experience in vehicle maintenance at the worker, helper, or apprentice levelSkills:Proficient in proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials and waste.Minimum experience and proficiency progressively higher at each skill level.Leadership experience preferred, especially at higher skill levels.Working Conditions:Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, wet, tropical environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).Includes some industrial production environment conditions as wellThe worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard about ambient noise level.The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicalsPhysical Requirements:Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations.
